MacOS Monterey: Is your computer compatible with Apple’s new operating system?

Everyone has been looking forward to this Apple’s new operating system MacOS Monterey for a long time! Apple’s latest Mac operating system, MacOS Monterey, will arrive on Monday. The software, also known as MacOS 12, will run on the new laptops announced at Apple’s event last week-including 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros. The operating system debuted at Apple’s Global Developers Conference in June, and included new features such as universal controls, AirPlay, and a series of updates in iOS 15, such as spatial audio in FaceTime.

Whether you are installing the MacOS Monterey public beta or planning to install the final version, you need to have compatible devices. Although the introduction of Windows 11 is full of confusion as to which devices can run it, Apple’s compatibility list is much simpler.

Can your Mac run MacOS Monterey? Let’s take a look!

According to Apple, the following are all Mac models that can run MacOS Monterey:

MacBook, early 2016 and beyond

MacBook Air, early 2015 and beyond

MacBook Pro, early 2015 and beyond

Mac Pro, late 2013 and newer models

Mac Mini, late 2014 and beyond

iMac, late 2015 and beyond

iMac Pro 2017 and newer

This will also mean that the following Macs will not be able to update to anything other than MacOS Big Sur:

iMac, mid-to-late 2014 and early 2015

MacBook Air, mid 2013 and early 2014

MacBook Pro, late 2013 and mid 2014

MacBook in early 2015
