When it comes to the best wireless headphones, Sony is the leader. The Sony WH-1000XM5 has been our top pick for nearly two years now, and it’s unlikely to lose that position until Sony releases the next member of the series.
The next pair of headphones that Sony is about to launch will most likely be the Sony WH-1000XM6. They haven’t been officially announced yet, but thanks to some recent filings with the FCC, we now know they’ll be available soon.
The images accompanying the filings show a pair of wireless headphones with removable ear pads, similar to what we’ve seen on other high-end headphones like the Apple AirPods Max. The specs, while limited, claim that these new headphones will support Bluetooth version 5.3. That’s a bit behind the latest version of Bluetooth (version 6.0), which launched last September, but it’s new enough to support all the latest codecs, including Bluetooth LE, which should help ease the drain on theSony WH-1000XM6 Headphones Battery.

So what does Sony have planned for the sixth generation of its best-in-class wireless headphones? I did some research and gathered all the news and rumors about the Sony WH-1000XM6, which is said to be released in the summer of 2025.
