AirSelfie 2 vs JJRC H59 – Battle of the Selfie Drones

Selfie drones have become increasingly popular over the past two years. Is there a better way to improve your selfie skills than with a drone? They are small and easy to use, making them the perfect drone to take with you. We’ll be looking at a couple of different options, the AirSelfie 2 ($160) and the JJRC H59 Ferry ($72). Can these small drones elevate your Instagram feed or Snapchat story? Let’s find out.AirSelfie 2The AirSelfie 2 is one of the most popular selfie drones out there. It comes with an upgraded 12 MP camera, a 5-minute flight time, and 16 GB of onboard storage. The AirSelfie 2 even comes with a power bank charger that you can use to store the drone and charge your phone. The AirSelfie 2 can be flown via an app on your smartphone. The AirSelfie 2 has three different ways to fly. There is a one-handed beginner mode, which is actually an easy way to fly. In the beginner and intermediate modes, the camera faces you, making it easy to take selfies. The intermediate mode also uses one-handed operation, but it’s confusing and difficult to use. The third mode, called Advanced Mode, gives the user a virtual joystick, and in Advanced Mode the AirSelfie 2 will fly like a typical drone. In Advanced Mode, the camera is facing away from you, and you can watch the video on your smartphone.
This drone is designed for selfies, and that’s one thing it excels at.
The AirSelfie 2 uses a downward-facing camera and sensors to help keep it level and stable. It performs well indoors, but has trouble flying outdoors in any wind. Its small design and oddly shaped propellers aren’t designed for flight, but for durability and portability. The AirSelfie comes with a power bank charger that doubles as a place to store the AirSelfie 2 drone. This is a really nice feature, and can even charge your smartphone on the go.
The AirSelfie 2 is a fun little drone, but it’s really only good for one thing, and that’s taking selfies. If you ask me, $200 is way too much for a drone with a single function. How does it compare to the less expensive selfie drone, the JJRC H59 ($72)?
AirSelfie 2 vs. JJRC H59 Ferry
The JJRC H59 Ferry looks like a larger, plastic version of the AirSelfie drone. Like the AirSelfie drone, it has downward-facing sensors for stability, and can be flown using a smartphone. It’s actually more stable, which I believe has a lot to do with its larger size.
Like the AirSelfie 2, the H59 has multiple ways to control it. You can fly it in one-handed mode like the AirSelfie 2, or you can fly it using a virtual joystick. You can choose to put the camera on the back of the drone for selfies, or put it on the front of the drone for regular flight. While it’s not a very responsive drone, it’s more comfortable to fly than the AirSelfie 2. It can be flown outdoors, but only on near-ideal days.
AirSelfie Camera. Its 5 MP camera is decent, but can’t compete with the 12 MP camera on the AirSelfie 2. If you’re looking for a drone that can take selfies for you, I’d say it meets your requirements.
The JJRC H59 has a shorter flight time, typically only lasting about 3-4 minutes. However, it is a more rugged drone and is capable of flying outdoors in a light breeze. Neither drone is recommended for flying outdoors.

Asus ProArt StudioBook Pro X hands-on review

Laptops tailored for a specific audience usually target a few key areas; most obviously gaming, budget, and professional. But the new generation of laptops seems to cater to a more nuanced, if not niche, audience. Asus’ new ProArt StudioBook series, like its previous ProArt desktops, is aimed squarely at creative professionals. Arguably, the most intriguing of all is Asus’ new ProArt StudioBook Pro X. It’s a system with astonishing features, and the secondary display on the touchpad is just as exciting. We managed to get our hands on one at IFA 2019, and after trying out a few of its ProArt siblings, the StudioBook Pro X was the one we were most impressed with.
Best of Almost EverythingTechnically, the ProArt Studio Book Pro X is the second most powerful laptop in the new lineup, just shy of the ProArt StudioBook One. But it still packs some of the most powerful components in the world today on its spec sheet.
The Pro X has the more impressive memory configuration yet, offering up to 128GB of DDR4.
At its core is a choice of Intel Core i7 or Intel Xeon CPUs, each with six cores and high clock speeds, paired with an Nvidia Quadro RTX 5000 graphics chip for some serious processing and rendering. The system is fully ISV-certified, which means that no matter what load you throw at this system, it can handle it with ease. Asus also tells us that this laptop is designed with a powerful cooling solution to prevent thermal throttling, so you can expect sustained performance within Intel’s typical boost parameters to ensure that your rendering and processing tasks are processed as quickly as possible.
Asus ProArt StudioBook Pro X Test ProX10 While the CPU and GPU of the Pro X may not be comparable to the StudioBook One, its memory configuration is more impressive. Up to 128GB of DDR4 is available. With RAID-0, high-speed NVMe storage support, buyers can choose drive configurations that can reach up to 6GBps. This helps ensure that there is as little downtime as possible when transferring or processing large (or just large) files, resulting in a fast and responsive experience.
Asus takes the professional side of this laptop so seriously that it bucks the “less is more” connectivity trend and equips the StudioBook Pro X with an abundance of ports. It has three high-speed USB-A 3.1 Gen 2 ports, a pair of USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports, a headphone jack, HDMI output, SD card reader, and a coveted Ethernet port to keep your networking capabilities unrestricted.
DelightfulBeyond the high-end hardware, Asus has also worked hard on the visual clarity and overall look and feel of the StudioBook Pro X. It sports an understated and tasteful design with a muted but elegant grey color scheme, highlighted by the slight angles and lines on the front edge of the lower half. The Asus NanoEdge bezels are thick enough at the top to accommodate a webcam, but not much more, with slight rounding at the corners, giving it a professional but far from sharp aesthetic. With a screen-to-body ratio of 97%, users have little wasted space and an immersive view of what they’re working on.
The screen itself is a hallmark of the ProArt StudioBook series. Since color accuracy is so important in all creative and professional fields, Asus ensured that the StudioBook Pro X supports 97% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, and with it fully validated by Pantone, you can be confident that its colors are virtually lifelike. In person, we found it easy to watch, with great clarity and rich, deep colors, even under strong external lighting.
It may not be groundbreaking in terms of resolution, at just 1,920 x 1,200, but the 16:10 aspect ratio is a great modern touch that gives it a more professional feel than the more typical 16:9 offerings.
The lid and touchpad have a carbon fiber-effect coating, which helps to distinguish it not only from the rest of the laptop, but also from most of this system’s competitors. The keyboard keys are tastefully backlit for low-light operation, and both the keyboard and touchpad are accurate and responsive.
But the secondary function of the touchpad is arguably the most interesting part of the whole system.
Screen doubling
Image used with permission of copyright ownerSecondary displays aren’t always as useful as they once were. Even though you can run Doom on the MacBook Pro’s Touch Bar, we’re still not quite sure what to make of it. But the optional ScreenPad (which we first saw in the ZenBook Pro 15) is an interesting addition to the StudioBook Pro X. It adds smartphone-like interaction with the laptop, providing quick access to the app launcher and custom commands in your favorite apps.
The 16:10 aspect ratio is a great modern touch that gives it a professional feel compared to the more typical 16:9 offerings.
We found it responsive and accurate to touch, with easy access to menu items to adjust brightness, resolution, and refresh rate. You can even have it display a unique background image to add a touch of personal style to the touchpad. When you’re done with it to launch apps, or just want a standard touchpad, just tap itAsus ProArt StudioBook Pro Xbattery
It’s not lightweight, which gives it a strength and rigidity that you don’t usually find in more streamlined devices. While this may make it less portable than the average mid-range device, it’s not a hallmark of the StudioBook Pro X.
With great hardware, a professional look and feel, and a compelling second screen that offers more useful functionality than the thin and often redundant MacBook Pro’s Touch Bar, this StudioBook laptop could be the most exciting addition to the expanded ProArt lineup.
The ProArt StudioBook One is a more capable device if you need more graphics power, but the Pro X seems to better reflect the creative professionals Asus is targeting with its new device. We don’t have an exact release date or pricing for this model just yet, but if it undercuts the more powerful One option and offers more power, this model could be the best of the new ProArt StudioBook lineup

Asus added a new product to its convertible laptop lineup this week, announcing the upcoming release of the new Asus NovaGo, which comes with aAsus NovaGo laptop battery that can last up to 22 hours on a single charge and up to 30 days on standby. The Asus NovaGo comes pre-installed with Microsoft’s Windows 10 S operating system, though you can choose to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro for free until September 30, 2018 if you prefer. After that, you’ll need to pay.
Inside the Asus NovaGo is Qualcomm’s most powerful mobile processor to date, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, which can be supported by up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The system includes a 13.3-inch screen that offers users a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Asus has also integrated a Qualcomm X16 Gigabit LTE modem. Fujifilm X100V and X100VI alternatives? Best retro cameras

We highlight alternative cameras that can emulate the image quality of the Fujifilm X100V and X100VI. We raved about the first-generation Fujifilm X100V and we love the new Fujifilm X100VI too. The combination of stylish looks, tactile control experience, responsive shooting and famous film simulation modes make this camera a great choice for anyone to own. But if a long wait is not in your favor, then it’s time to consider other options.
So, based on our experience testing and reviewing these cameras, we’ve put together a list of readily available retro-style cameras that offer similar features to the X100V and  Fujifilm  X100VI Camera Battery. These cameras include features from some of the best JPEG camera brands and are suitable for those who like to shoot first and think about editing later.
Best Fujifilm X100V and X100VI Alternatives – And Best Retro-Style CamerasBefore we get into the list, it’s worth explaining our selection criteria. These are the key factors that make the Fujifilm X100V and X100VI so attractive, and therefore the qualities we looked for when identifying alternatives.  Fujifilm X100V Camera BatteryClassic retro camera styling. It’s not just about looks – emulating the look of classic film cameras means a control dial on the top plate and an aperture ring on the lens. It makes for a more tactile shooting experience than digging through menus. While Fujifilm is the master of retro cameras, companies like Nikon and Olympus have also come up with some chic alternatives, as we’ll see.
A large sensor and bright lens are also key to the X100V’s appeal. The combination of an APS-C sensor and f/2 lens means the camera delivers great images even in low light. The lens is a fixed 35mm equivalent prime, which may put some people off at first – what, I can’t zoom?! But many X100 camera owners quickly took to reframing their shots by moving their feet rather than the lens optics. It doesn’t hurt, and it allows photographers to be more agile and engaged.
Film simulations. These are specific JPEG shooting modes that simulate the look of famous films like Astia, Provia, Velvia, etc., producing very shareable images straight out of the camera. Other camera brands, like Olympus, offer their own vintage filters, but none are quite as good.
So we’ve rounded up a few vintage-style digital cameras that not only have some of the above features, but also some additional features you might find useful, like interchangeable lenses and/or zoom lenses. For some tips on how to make the most of these cameras once you’ve chosen one, check out our essential street photography guide.
If you still want the Fujifilm X100V, but can’t decide between the X100VI and X100V, check out our Fujifilm X100VI vs. X100V guide.
Best X100V Alternative: Fujifilm X100FFujifilm X100F If you can’t find an X100V, or if the price is up, the previous models in the X100 series offer the same sensor size and a similarly bright f/2 lens. The X100V comes with a newer lens with improved image quality and better macro performance, but if you want to save some money, you can still get great image quality from the X100FCamera Battery
The X100F has a 24MP APS-C sensor, a 23mm f/2.0 lens that’s 35mm equivalent for 35mm film, and a hybrid optical/electronic viewfinder that puts the Fujifilm X100 series in a league of its own.
If you want the expanded functionality of interchangeable lenses, consider a camera like the Fujifilm X-T30 II. You can probably find the Fujifilm X100F brand new, but there are plenty on the used market, too.
Pros: Same scheme as the X100V, hybrid viewfinder, excellent image qualityCons:Still hard to find
Best X100V Alternative: Ricoh GR IIIxWhile it may not have quite the same retro look, the Ricoh GR IIIx is probably the camera that comes closest to the functionality of the Fujifilm X100V. As such, it’s a good alternative option, and it’s a lot cheaper.
The GR IIIx is also a fixed-lens compact camera based on an APS-C sensor. It’s small and responsive, and is designed for street photography and everyday shooting. The lens is a slightly longer 40mm-equivalent than the X100V’s 35mm lens, and has a maximum aperture of f/2.8 instead of f/2. That’s still plenty of bright, so you can achieve shallow depth of field and shoot in low light.
The GR IIIx is a trimmed-down version of the GR III, and the two are essentially the same, except with a wider 28mm-equivalent lens. You can choose which camera you prefer based on the type of images you like to shoot – the GR IIIx is better suited to natural street scenes, while the GR III is probably better suited to architecture and interiors. Whichever you choose, you’ll get a fast, high-quality camera that consistently produces vivid, colorful images.
While there are some nice in-camera Raw processing options and Photo Styles, the GR IIIx can’t produce the same cinematic effects as the X100V. Also, as we found in our review, you may be unhappy with the limitations of framing on the fixed LCD screen – some tilt functionality really wouldn’t go amiss. Also, remember that the GR IIIx doesn’t come with a viewfinder – Ricoh does sell an attachable viewfinder, but it adds $250/£299 to the cost of the camera, which offsets the savings you’ll get over the X100V (which has a built-in viewfinder and tilting screen).
All in all, the Ricoh GR IIIx is a likeable and fun camera, and a solid alternative to the X100V.
Pros:Probably the closest analog to the X10040mm equivalent lens is great for street shootingCheaper than the X100VCons: No viewfinder (expensive optional extra)Fixed LCD screen

Nikon D4S Review – Field Testing Part 3

For my final batch of photos with my Nikon D4S, I decided to do some documentary-like photography around Greenwich Village. I purposely chose to shoot from dusk to evening to test the camera’s amazing high ISO capabilities.
I started in Hudson River Park, where I found a beautiful flower bed—but it was in the shade and very windy. It was 7 pm and still bright, but the situation required quite a bit of sensitivity. I needed to set a narrow aperture of f/8.0 to get enough depth of field and use a fast shutter speed of 1/320 second to freeze the flowers being blown by the wind. To achieve this, I had to crank up the sensitivity of my Nikon D4S to an equivalent of ISO 1250. As you can see in the image above, the resulting image is almost completely free of noise. It has the smooth tones and rich color saturation that you would have expected from shooting with the camera at ISO 100 or 200 a few years ago.
I stayed in the park until dusk, then wandered onto the jogger and bike path. At this point, the light had dropped to about EV 7 (ISO 100), which meant I had to use ISO 6400 to get an action-stopping shutter speed of 1/500 second with the aperture set to f/4.0. The Nikon D4S’s autofocus system had no problem tracking the cyclists and

roller skaters in the dim light. Noise was noticeable in the images at this higher sensitivity, but they still retained a good amount of detail and color. As dusk turned to night, I left the park and began a stroll through Greenwich Village. With the Nikon D4S Replacement Camera Batteryset to Auto ISO, I shot a series of portraits of people walking on the street and sitting inside and outside restaurants. The D4S’s sensitivity climbs from ISO 14,400 equivalent all the way up to an amazing ISO 229,880.
I got one of my favorite images of a couple of musicians and a dancer at dusk in Washington Square Park, shot at 1/125, f/4.0, and ISO 28,735. There is definitely noise in the image when viewed at 100% magnification, but color is preserved fairly well, and at smaller magnifications the image looks fairly clean.

To test the video capabilities of the Nikon D4S, I took it to Tompkins Square Park one evening. I wanted to experiment with the extremely shallow depth of field that the camera’s full-frame sensor can achieve when paired with the AF-S 50mm f/1.4 lens. I set up the shot to focus on some flowers in the foreground, then shifted focus to people walking by in the background, and shot several clips using a shutter speed of 1/125 with apertures ranging from f/1.6 to f/2.8.

I found it very easy to compose my shots on the LCD and check exposure with a quick test clip. I had some trouble focusing accurately at normal magnification using the Nikon D4S’s LCD monitor, but I solved that problem by increasing the live view magnification to enable critical focus at the press of a button. While I kept the sensitivity at ISO 200 equivalent for the best footage, you can record movies in manual exposure mode using Auto ISO. This is undoubtedly useful in certain news and documentary shooting scenarios where light may change while shooting.
ConclusionIf there is one fundamental difference between professional cameras and amateur and enthusiast cameras, it is this. A professional camera is designed with the idea that you can rely on it to shoot no matter what. It has the versatility and performance to shoot weddings, car races, and keep shooting through storms, riots, and hard landings on dirt airports.
I haven’t gotten in trouble with the Nikon D4S, so I can only make an educated guess about its durability based on its rugged construction. However, its versatility and performance are unmatched by any other camera I have ever used.
Of course, the D4S has far more features than most of us (including me) need. (Personally, I find it too expensive and too bulky.) Still, I find it very enjoyable and satisfying to use such a responsive, well-made precision tool. That might be a reason to buy one – even if you’re not getting paid to shoot every possible situation and take award-winning photos.

Why the Vivo V30 is better than the Google Pixel 7a

I bought a Google Pixel 7a last year with one goal in mind: to consistently produce content about photography and skating for my social media. It didn’t disappoint, and it’s clearly one of the best budget phones out there. However, it wasn’t long before my phone’s internal memory filled up, and Google started suggesting I pay for additional storage.
This isn’t surprising, because 1) I’m always taking screenshots to remind myself of things I need to do later (which never works, but that doesn’t mean it stops me); 2) I’m a photographer (self-explanatory, right?); and 3) I frequently use my Google Pixel 7a to shoot and edit content for both personal social media and AP. I also like to keep a few drafts on Instagram and TikTok so I can plan what and when I share each week. Add in the usual storage apps like WhatsApp and Outlook, and I’m down to about 1GB of my total 128GB storage. Granted, the Vivo V30 has a whopping 512GB of storage in comparison, so it’s not really a competitor.
When I reviewed the Vivo V30 Smartphone Battery
was surprised to see how much easier the camera app makes your life when it comes to organizing and resizing images. You can see how big the image is and can reduce the image quality and resolution to save a smaller version of the image. You can also compress videos.
You can see the size of the file on the Google Pixel 7a, but its editing tools don’t allow you to resize the file. Because of this, the Vivo V30 is starting to become where I store my content, my “work phone” so to speak.Google Pixel 7a Smartphone BatteryGoogle GP5JE Li-ion battery is a new brand and it is compatible with 100% original and replacement batteries. Wholesale and retail of Google GP5JE battery is of high quality and low price!

While I don’t regret buying the Pixel 7a at all (although maybe not long after the Pixel 8a is released), as a junior content creator, having a second phone is particularly useful.

Oukitel C3 review: An entry-level device that ticks all the boxes

Over the past year, we have tested several devices from Oukitel, most of which were battery monsters. But Oukitel is not a one-trick pony and there are other phones in its lineup that are not solely focused on offering high-capacity batteries. This time, the company has released a budget smartphone that aims to offer great value for money. Priced at under $60, the C3 is one of the most affordable Android Marshmallow smartphones in the market. Let’s see if it can make a name for itself in the entry-level segment. Hardware and DesignFor a price of under $60, I don’t expect the C3 to feature a fancy metal construction or other exotic materials, but the plastic construction of the device feels pretty good in the hand and is adequate in this case. I got the Electric Blue version, which I personally find too shiny and would have been better with a black or dark blue version. The smartphone has a textured back that is said to be inspired by diamonds.
Aside from the textured back, the overall design of the smartphone is pretty standard, but the smartphone does grab attention with its color. There’s nothing wrong with the minimalist design of the C3 and Oukitel didn’t take any risks in that regard. Even the placement of the buttons, camera and speaker are pretty ordinary. The volume and power keys are located on the right side of the device, while the micro USB slot and headphone jack are located at the top.
The speaker is located at the bottom right corner of the back of the smartphone, the microphone is located at the bottom edge, and the rear camera is located at the top center, next to the LED flash. The front of the smartphone is home to the speaker grille, proximity and ambient light sensors on one side, and the front camera on the other.
The smartphone does not have any physical navigation keys, instead it relies on capacitive buttons located at the bottom of the screen. It must be noted that the capacitive buttons do not glow, which was a bit of an issue until I got used to the device.
DisplayThe Oukitel C3 features a 5-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 720p, which translates to 294 pixels per inch. The screen is decent for an entry-level phone, with decent viewing angles and is easily readable in sunlight. Audio and Call QualityThe call quality on most phones these days is nothing to complain about. The C3’s call quality was also decent, but the phone’s proximity sensor failed to work properly a few times, and I ended up randomly pressing the dial button with my face.
The speaker is located at the bottom right corner, which results in muffled sound if you hold it too tightly or place it flat on a surface. Even when not covered, the volume is not enough on the normal setting, but it can be boosted using the internal audio boost setting. There are two system-level audio enhancement features for the speaker and earphones, each with movie and music modes.
Since this smartphone does not come with earphones, I tested the audio output using my own earphones, and the results were quite good. The sound was clear and loud enough, and the bass was adequate, even without the digital enhancements enabled. The earphones also have a bass booster setting, but I found the sound better without it, as it created some muffled sound in music that already had a lot of bass.
CameraLike its predecessor, the Oukitel C3’s cameras are not very good. Moreover, they seem to use interpolation and lack proper image optimization. That being said, they are not completely useless, but you will not want to use them to capture special moments. The video quality on the C3’s highest setting is also quite poor. The camera is capable of shooting videos at 1080p resolution, but obviously the numbers don’t tell the whole story. For imaging, the device is absolutely no good.
SoftwareUnlike most smartphones in its price range, the Oukitel C3 comes pre-installed with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which is pretty close to stock Android. The smartphone’s launcher is only slightly different from stock Android, but even that’s not a stretch. Oukitel has brought back the app drawer in the latest version of the launcher, but has kept the MIUI-like icons.BatteryThe 2000 mAh battery of the Oukitel C3 isn’t much by current standards, and a 700-800 mAh battery would have made this smartphone more than adequate. With frequent calls, nearly half an hour of browsing, and intermittent instant messaging, the device lasted about 14 hours. On busy days, the battery life was even less, as the device struggled to make it through the night.
Oukitel has come up with its own battery saving app, which works pretty well in such conditions.Oukitel Smartphone Batterysaver,Oukitel C3 Smartphone Battery
I managed to get an extra 5 hours of standby time after reaching 10% charge. The app turns off data connection, reduces brightness to minimum and disables syncing to achieve extra standby time.
The phone does not support any fast charging mechanism and it takes about 2.5 hours to charge the battery from zero to 100%.

Filling from 50% is pretty fast but draining to 50% is also fast.
ConclusionThe Oukitel C3 performs well and I don’t think there are any drawbacks to this smartphone for the average user except for the camera. Although this device is targeted at budget smartphone buyers, it feels a bit better than most devices of the same price range from Indian manufacturers that I have used. The battery of thisOukitel C3 smartphone  batterycould have been a bit bigger but considering the price, there is nothing to complain about.
