While the OnePlus 13R fails to live up to the premium feel of its predecessor, it offers significant upgrades, like a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and a larger
OnePlus 13R Phone Battery
Over the years, OnePlus’s R-series smartphones have earned a reputation for great value for money, with the brand proudly calling them “flagship killers.” Last year, I reviewed the OnePlus 12R and was very impressed, rating it one of the best phones I’ve ever used. That being said, the OnePlus 13R doesn’t quite live up to the same level — and not in the way you’d typically think.
The phone sports the same metal frame and circular camera module as last year, but pretty much everything else has changed. The front is a slab, while the glass back on the 12R is now replaced by a metal shell with sharp edges, making the phone look boxy and, frankly, a little uncomfortable to hold for long periods of time. Now, I know looks are subjective, and some people may simply find this phone attractive, but it’s my job to point out the obvious, and the design here feels like a big step backwards, especially considering how well OnePlus did last time.
Another disappointment is that OnePlus has only offered minimal upgrades in terms of water resistance, from IP64 on the previous generation to IP65 on the 13R, which means you still need to keep it out of deep water. The good news is that OnePlus decided to ditch the optical fingerprint sensor on the 12R in favor of an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on the new phone, and I’m happy to report that it’s just as fast and responsive as the one on the OnePlus 13 (review)OnePlus 13R Phone Battery and Software:
The OnePlus 13R has the same 6,000mAh battery as its predecessor, but oddly,OnePlus 13R Phone Battery
has reduced fast charging capabilities from 100W to 80W this time around.
The slower charging speeds and larger battery capacity (5,500mAh last year) mean that this phone takes about an hour to fully charge. But once fully charged, the OnePlus 13R phone battery can easily last a full day (or even longer) even when running power-intensive tasks like gaming, video editing, and continuous OTT streaming. If you want specific numbers, you can expect around 8-9 hours of screen time from the device. Camera: OnePlus has updated its camera system this time around. The main sensor is still a 50MP camera, but it’s equipped with a Sony LYT 700 lens, while the 8MP Sony IMX 355 ultra-wide-angle camera is carried over from last year’s camera.
