HP ENVY 6t-1000 Review – 15.6-inch Ultrabook

Bottom Line: If you want a 15.6-inch Ultrabook, the HP ENVY 6 is a great value. It’s stylish, light, well-built, and fast enough for everyday tasks. However, HP could have paid more attention to the details, as the screen, keyboard, or trackpad are just average. Pros
For a 15.6-inch laptop, it’s thin and light, good-looking, well-built, fast enough for daily use and multimedia, has good speakers, and has a long HP Envy 6t-1000 batterylife. Although Ultrabooks have been around for about a year, most of the available models are compact 13.3-inch, with a few 11.6-inch and 14-inch alternatives. However, customers love 15.6-inch laptops, as they are currently the best-selling laptops on the market. Therefore, we will see 15.6-inch Ultrabooks soon.
The HP Envy 6 is one of the few laptops that are already on store shelves, and we tried one of them in recent days. You should know that we are testing the HP Envy 6t-1000 here, which is an ultrabook based on Intel Ivy bridge hardware platform, and not the cheaper Envy 6z thin and light laptop based on AMD APU.
Design and AppearanceStarting with the appearance first, the Envy 6 is a thin and light laptop, measuring just 0.8 inches thick and weighing 4.7 pounds, while the average 15.6-inch laptop is much larger and heavier.
HP offers the Envy 6 in two colors, and I tried the standard model, which features a black aluminum shell and interior and a dark red plastic bottom and sides, which blend together to form a solid device. The stains and fingerprints on the black surface are a bit annoying, but other than that, there is nothing wrong with this laptop as I like its overall feel and finished quality.
The ports are located on the side, and except for the VGA port, this HP Envy 6 offers all the ports we usually get on such laptops. On the left side, there is the LAN adapter, HDMI output, two USBs, a card reader, and some status LEDs. On the right side, there is a Kensington lock, headphone and microphone jacks, another USB, and the PSU.As for the bottom, it is made of smooth rubberized plastic and only offers some cooling grilles, as there is no quick way to access the HP ENVY 6t-1000 batteryor internal components.
In dim lighting, the dark keys and dark background are a bit difficult to read, especially since our version does not have a backlit keyboard. The stains on the dark aluminum palm rest can be very annoying, but I would choose it over the glossy plastic that is common on HP laptops.
Keyboard and TouchpadThis HP laptop comes with a wide full-size keyboard without a number pad area to leave more space for regular keys. As a result, this keyboard is spacious. The square, flat keys provide decent feedback, and the overall typing experience is good, although the springiness and stickiness of some keys can be annoying at times.HP laptop Battery Life
HP has equipped this device with 4 56 Wh HP ENVY 6t-1000 battery, which they claim can guarantee nearly 9 hours of battery life. In real-world use, I only averaged about 4.5 hours of use per day in power-save mode, and nearly 5 hours of looping an HD movie.
That’s actually not bad, although I would have expected better when I saw these initial HP estimates.
