In response to a series of specificGoogle Pixel 4 XL battery-related issues, Google has extended the warranty of the Pixel 4 XL to a few regions.
Pixel 4 XL users in the US, Canada, Japan, Singapore, and Taiwan can now take advantage of a one-year extended repair program. But the UK, Australia, and several specified EU countries are excluded, and Google says “eligible devices will be processed as part of their normal two-year manufacturer warranty.” As
Android Police points out, such offers are usually prompted by a wave of complaints about faults, and perhaps even threats of legal action, but widespread reports of

issues have been conspicuous by the lack of such offers. Still, users in eligible countries must meet a very specific set of faults to qualify for free repairs. Google says the issues must be related to the following:
Not turning on
Phone randomly restarts or shuts down without manual restart or shutdownCharging with an adapterWireless chargingThephone’s batterydrains noticeably faster than before useOther issues are not covered by the warranty, and Google warns that other issues (such as cracked screens) may need to be dealt with at the user’s expense before battery faults are resolved for free.
If the phone was purchased in an ineligible country, users in eligible regions will also be ineligible. So if you bought a Pixel 4 XL in the UK but now live in Singapore, you won’t be able to get the free service. This may just be because the existing warranty has replaced the repair program, but on the other hand, it can also provide some insight into the nature of the problem. Android Police points out that North America, Taiwan, and Japan have their own SKUs that are different from the global models, so this issue may not affect phones purchased in Europe.
