Forgot your Apple ID password? This iOS 15 trick can help you get it back!

If you forget your Apple ID password, don’t panic. It is possible that we all forgot one or two passwords at some point. Losing the Apple ID password of an iPhone, iPad, or Mac is a frustration similar to losing a car key. A password is like your key to unlock access to important content: your iCloud account, which in turn unlocks all your Apple devices. Passwords, such as Face ID and Touch ID, are designed to protect your information, but entering the wrong password multiple times will lock you out. This means you must contact Apple Support for help. Let’s take a look at how the tricks in iOS 15 can help you find it when you forget your Apple ID password!

Apple released iOS 15 in September — after the launch of the new iPhone 13 series at the tech giant’s autumn virtual event — it added a feature to your iPhone that makes your account recovery like a family member It’s as easy as calling, or your best friend. A new feature called account recovery allows you to choose your trusted contacts, and then they can give you a special code to unlock your account.

Before the official release, Apple provided public beta versions of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 for anyone with a compatible device to help test the new operating system. This is how we tried the account recovery function. Whenever you install iOS 15, you need to do the following: Add trusted contacts to account recovery.

Select a trusted account to restore contacts

Before setting up account recovery, you need to have all Apple devices (whether Mac, iPad, or iPhone) run the latest version of Apple software. In this case, this means MacOS Monterey, iPadOS 15 and iOS 15 respectively.

Once all your devices have the latest software installed, follow the steps below to select your recovery contacts for account recovery.

Open the Settings application and tap your name at the top of the screen. Next, select Password and Security> Account Recovery> Add Recovery Contact. A page will pop up detailing what the contact can view or perform with your account (they cannot access your iCloud account at any time), and briefly explain what you need to do from you if you are locked Deducted from your account. Tap Add recovery contact at the bottom of the screen to continue. Enter your Apple ID password when prompted, and follow the remaining prompts to choose your recovery contact.

What to do if your Apple ID or iCloud account is locked

If you happen to be locked out of your account, you need to use your iPhone to call your account to restore one of the contacts. Then, your contact will give you a short code that they can access directly on their iPhone, and then you need to enter that code to unlock your account.

Once your account is unlocked, you will be asked to create a new password. I suggest you use a password manager app instead of leaving it in your memory or choosing a simple password that you think you will remember. It will create a secure password for you, save it, and even enter it when prompted.
