The HP Pro x2 612 Business Edition offers the functionality of a laptop and tablet in one device. Hybrid designs and 2-in-1 devices are very popular right now, but there aren’t many options for business users who want to bring the convenience of a tablet into the workplace and use it as a Windows PC.
HP is filling that gap with the HP Pro x2 612, a business-focused detachable hybrid that was just announced at Computex. The Pro x2 612 offers both a business laptop and tablet in a detachable design. It combines a 12.5-inch tablet with a docking keyboard to form a full-featured business laptop.
The tablet itself can be purchased separately as the standalone HP Pro Tablet 612. It has a 12.5-inch display with Full HD (1080p) resolution, touch capabilities, a Wacom digitizer, and a passive stylus. This ultra-thin tablet can be configured with either Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 for optimal compatibility with existing IT structures. HP claims the tablet can deliver up to eight hours of usableHP Pro x2 612 Tablet battery life on a single charge.
The Pro x2 612 is available with a range of Intel Haswell processors (Celeron, Pentium, up to Core i7 Y-class) and is loaded with business-friendly features like TPM and Intel vPro technologies, a built-in fingerprint reader for simple and secure logins, a SmartCard reader, an onboard micro SD card slot for additional storage, and an optional Qualcomm Gobi 4G LTE modem.
The included Power Keyboard (a docking keyboard bundled with the HP Pro x2 612) offers a host of handy features, such as two USB 3.0 ports, a DisplayPort, an SD card reader, and VGA output. The keyboard also has its own battery, which HP reports should last between six and eight hours of theHP Pro x2 612 Laptop batterylife the tablet alone offers. With the Power Keyboard attached, the HP Pro x2 612 weighs just over 4 pounds, making it light enough to use on the go with or without the keyboard.
