Life TestsWe measure the Asus Chromebook Plus CX34 Laptop Battery life by looping a locally stored 720p video (the public short film Tears of Steel) immediately after unplugging the power cord. The video is viewed in full-screen mode with display brightness set to 50% and volume set to 100%. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are turned off, and we fully charge the laptop before testing begins. In our tests, the 2023 Asus Chromebook Plus CX34 Laptop Battery lasted 12 hours and 46 minutes, while the new model lasted nearly two hours less, to just 11 hours. life aren’t bad, but certainly not competitive with laptops that cost only $150 more. As the chart shows, competing Chromebook Plus 516 GE laptops last more than three hours longer on a charge, but those models don’t last as long as our benchmark results. (Note that the more powerful Chromebook Plus 516 GE reported shorter results.) The Chromebook Plus CX34 is a decent travel companion, but it’s not the longest-lasting Chromebook we’ve tested, and that’s down slightly from the previous generation. Verdict: Best Chromebook deal again For shoppers looking to spend around $400 on a Chromebook, the upgraded Asus Chromebook Plus CX34 is an excellent choice. It offers a comfortable keyboard and trackpad, plenty of ports, and competitive performance, but for a much lower price than some competing models.
