Older iPhone or iPad: 5 ways to quickly make it new!

Although you may have an older version of iPhone or iPad, you can take a moment and some adjustments to make them look new again. I’m not talking about cleaning the outside of the device, but making some adjustments to the software to ensure that you have storage space and that your device runs as smoothly as possible. Let’s take a look!

Reset the app layout of the home screen to start over

You can find this setting by going to “Settings”> “General”> “Transfer or Reset iPhone”> “Reset”> “Reset Home Screen Layout”. After using this option, the built-in application will return to its default location and you will have the opportunity to rearrange or organize your phone.

Get rid of those disposable applications

Old apps will not only take up valuable storage space on our devices, but also mess up your home screen and choose your privacy choices when you first install the app. Instead of letting apps you no longer use take up space or access your data, take a few minutes to delete all apps you no longer use. With the release of iOS 14 last year, Apple changed the way you delete apps on iPhone. But it is not the default method, I will show you another method. Open the “Settings” app, then go to “General”> “iPhone/iPad Storage” and wait for the list to load. Scroll through the list of applications installed on your phone or tablet. When you find the application you want to delete, click on it, and then select Delete application.

Get a new wallpaper every day

After having no unnecessary apps on your home screen and reorganizing, this is another simple way to keep the daily fresh. Apple’s Shortcut application is a powerful tool for a variety of purposes, but one thing I use it every day is to set random images in Unsplash as my iPhone and iPad wallpaper.

Categorize your current subscriptions

More and more applications are moving to a subscription model, and it is easy to forget what you have registered. Open the Settings app and quickly browse your App Store subscriptions. Tap the iCloud name at the top of the screen, and then tap Subscribe. After a few seconds, a list of all content registered with your Apple ID, including cost and renewal date, will be displayed. Click on anything you want to cancel, which should still allow you to use the app or service before the renewal date.

Reset your device settings

Resetting your device settings will provide you with a new state without deleting any apps or accounts stored on your phone or tablet. This is an extreme choice and requires additional consideration. Reset all the settings of your device and let you start again. Go to “Settings”> “General”> “Transfer or Reset iPhone”> “Reset”> “Reset All Settings”. You need to enter the password and confirm your decision.

warn! Be sure to click Reset all settings instead of deleting all content and settings. This option will reset your iPhone or iPad to factory settings, delete all the apps, documents, and accounts on your device, and you really have to start from scratch.
