While the new Fold 6 doesn’t have a bigger battery, the compact Galaxy Z Flip 6 does have a nearly 10 percent larger battery and a more power-efficient processor, so we had to test it out to see just how much more Galaxy Z Flip 6 battery life the Galaxy phone has.
First, let’s look at the official numbers Samsung gave us:
Video playback time for the Flip 6 is 23 hours, compared to 20 hours for the Flip 5
Audio playback time is 68 hours, compared to 57 hours for the Flip 5. Something has definitely changed, so let’s see if we can verify these numbers in our own testing.
As you may know, at PhoneArena we perform three in-house battery tests on each phone, and we’ve just finished testing the Flip 6. Here are the results we got:Smartphone Battery Samsung
Test Results: In our web browsing tests, the Flip 6 is a big improvement over its two predecessors. It lasted over 16 hours, which is slightly above average for this test, while previous Flip phones lasted around 12 hours, which is below average.
Once again we see similar results between the older Flip 5 and Flip 4, with the new Flip 6 leading the pack with 9 hours and 8 minutes, two hours longer than both theGalaxy Z Flip 5 batteryand the Galaxy Z Flip 4 battery. Interestingly, the vapor chamber seemed to significantly improve the internal temperatures of the phone in our 3D gaming test. Previous Flip phones tended to heat up, causing the Galaxy Z Flip batteryto drain faster, so they lasted around five hours. The new Flip 6 lasted over 10 hours in the same test, which is impressive.
As you can see, these numbers are very promising, but we’ll stop here for now and stay tuned for our full in-depth analysis of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 early next week.
