Honor says its newly upgraded Honor Magicbook 14 laptop can run for 17 hours on a single charge thanks to its 75Wh Honor Magicbook 14 laptop battery.
Launched at the IFA tech trade show in Berlin, it’s the first time Honor has applied its system-level power-saving algorithm, OS Turbo, to one of its laptops.
Priced at a significant increase from the £799/€849 Core i5-powered 2021 model, Honor appears to be targeting the premium Windows laptop market. It’s a competitive price bracket, with good alternatives from both Huawei and Microsoft, though Honor’s design won’t necessarily stand out as it sits firmly in the plain silver laptop camp popularized by the MacBook Air.
What really matters, though, is its internals, with its powerful 75Wh battery and 135W fast charger allowing Honor to say that just 15 minutes of charging will give the computer 3.5 hours of life, and a full charge in 80 minutes. Two fans and a tweaked design to help dissipate heat keep the computer cool under such power loads. In addition to its 2.1k display and fingerprint sensor, the Magicbook 14 also comes with Honor’s proprietary Honor Share technology, which is very impressive if it works as seamlessly as the company claims.
You can mirror your phone’s screen to the laptop, answer calls, or use the keyboard to enter text on your phone or tablet. You can also drag and drop content from one device to another, which seems like a great alternative to technologies like Apple’s AirDrop. The company is pushing its ecosystem further this year, as Honor also announced the Honor 70 phone and Pad 8 tablet. The Magicbook 14 also makes use of Honor’s device cloning software, which allows people to transfer all their data from an old laptop to a new one. Small details like this are crucial if Honor wants to become a reliable mainstay in Europe’s computing scene, so it’s great to see the company rolling out new features.
