The Marshall Emberton 2 is the latest portable speaker from Marshall, a British company founded in the 1960s that’s probably best known for its guitar amplifiers. Been to a show lately? There was almost certainly a Marshall amp on stage. As we’d expect, the Marshall Emberton 2 brings a rich, clear, and wide sound to most environments. However, the audio gets a little muddy with the volume turned up. There’s also not as much bass as we’d like, but in that regard, it does a good job as a portable speaker. The standout feature of the Marshall Emberton 2 is its incredible 30-hour Marshall Emberton 2 batterylife. Add to that a 1.5-pound weight (not light compared to the competition, but not heavy either), an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, and you’ve got all the requirements for a good portable speaker.
As such, we wouldn’t recommend the Marshall Emberton 2 to everyone. If you want a speaker with a voice assistant, support for calls, and plenty of customization options, you’ll need to look elsewhere – there are plenty to choose from in our best smart speakers guide. However, if you like the Marshall aesthetic and want a reliable, portable speaker with great sound quality, long battery life, and minimal features, this is a great choice. Marshall Emberton 2 Bluetooth Speakers Battery
It’s rated for an incredible 30 hours of battery life, and we found that to be accurate in our testing, with between 27-29 hours of use. It only takes three hours to charge, and a full charge in just a few minutes.
This is one of the longest-lasting products in the portable speaker space. We tested the Tribit Stombox Blast, which also lasted 30 hours, and the Bang & Olufsen Beosound Explore, which lasted 27 hours. But the top Bluetooth speaker Sonos Roam only lasted 10 hours.
The excellent Emberton 2 battery life makes the Emberton 2 a great portable speaker that can deliver really solid sound for more than a full day. Inside the Marshall Emberton 2 are two 2-inch full-range drivers, two passive radiators, and Marshall’s “True Stereo” technology, which is essentially stereo sound. So no matter what you listen to, the sound will be rich and clear in most cases.
The soundstage of this speaker is immersive and wide, and we attribute this to Marshall’s multi-directional audio. The bass is decent in most situations, but you won’t get that booming bass experience if you want sound to fill a room. But that’s largely to be expected for a portable, compact speaker like this. You’re paying a premium for the Marshall brand and the really cool-looking miniature amp aesthetic. But there’s a lot to like about the Emberton 2, too, which makes the extra expense a little easier to swallow. The standout feature is its Marshall Emberton 2 Bluetooth Battery
30-hour battery life. The sound here is also good, but not amazing. We really like the stacking feature for creating a wall of sound at a party.
Overall, we can’t say the Marshall Emberton 2 is worth the money for everyone, as it’s simply not for everyone, especially for those who want smart features. But if you want a stylish, great-sounding, cool-looking, durable speaker that lasts all day on a single Marshall Emberton 2 Bluetooth Speakers Battery charge, then it’s definitely worth the money.
