DJI Mavic Mini review: Small but mighty

The DJI Mavic Mini is a micro-marvel, a small drone with big ambitionsPros Extremely compact and easy to fly Up to 30 minutes of flight timeDefaultNo side obstacle avoidance sensors, lack of tracking and time-lapse modesOn November 30, 2019, new drone laws came into effect in the UK, requiring owners of all drones weighing 250g or more to register with UK authorities and take an online safety test. However, if you buy a DJI Mavic Mini, you are not subject to this restriction, as its flying weight (proudly marked on the right side of the drone) is 1g less than this limit. DJI Mavic Mini review: What you need to knowThe DJI Mavic Mini is the lightest and smallest drone (DJI now calls it a flying camera) the company has ever made. With the battery installed, it weighs 249g, but I put it on the scale and with the camera cover removed, it weighed even less at 246g, and folded up small enough to fit in the palm of my hand. This is no toy, however. It features a fully mechanically stabilized 12-megapixel camera mounted on the camera, capable of capturing video at up to 2.7K resolution. It comes with a compact remote control, a transmission range of up to 2km, and a flight time of 30 minutes, which is comparable to larger drones. DJI Mavic Mini Review: DesignThe main appeal of the Mavic Mini is its compact size and ultra-light weight. Folded up, its four rotor arms are small enough to fit snugly in the palm of my hand without sticking out over the edges. The folding mechanism is the same as its more expensive (and more advanced) siblings, the Mavic Air and Mavic Pro: when you’re ready to fly, just pull the front arm horizontally, then the rear arm down and back. The folding rotor blades are already installed (secured with micro Phillips screws), and all that’s left is to install the batteries.DJI Mavic Mini Drone BatteryUnder a thin plastic cover on the rear of the drone are a microSD slot and a micro USB port for charging, as well as the drone’s only status LED.It’s a shame that the DJI drone battery itself doesn’t have a charging port; if you want to charge spare batteries while flying, you’ll need to buy a charging station that can hold up to three batteries.DJI Mavic Mini battery, included in the Fly More package.Overall, the build quality of the Mavic Mini is good, especially considering its extremely light weight. The arm hinges are sturdy and, while the battery cover is a bit thin, the rest of the body feels solidly constructed, much more solid than the similarly lightweight Parrot Anafi. Thankfully, DJI provides the Mavic Mini with a plastic protective cover that covers the camera unit mounted below. This nifty little camera is suspended on rubber mounts to absorb vibrations and features three-axis motorized stabilization, so it should produce steady footage no matter how hard you fly.So far, so good, but a quick physical inspection of the body shows that the Mavic Mini is missing some key features. While the drone has a downward-facing camera and two sonar sensors to ensure it can hover in one place without moving, there are no side, forward, or backward sensors to help it avoid collisions with buildings or trees. During autonomous operation. . Even the Mini’s predecessor, the DJI Spark, had a front-facing sensor, so this is a disappointing omission. DJI Mavic Mini Review: Camera and Image QualityThe DJI Mavic Mini’s camera is very advanced. Not only does it deliver very smooth and stable video, but the image quality is also very good. However, compared to the DJI Spark, the quality is not as high as I expected. In fact, the Mavic Mini’s camera falls short of expectations in some aspects. For example, while the resolution is also 12 megapixels, the aperture is f/2.8, while the aperture on the Spark is f/2.6.That being said, the Mavic Mini’s video recording resolution, frame rate, and bit rate are all higher than the Spark. Specifically, the Spark can only record 1080p video (in MP4/H.264 format) at 30fps and 24Mbps, while the Mavic Mini can record up to 2.7K (2720 x 1530) at 30fps and 40Mbps.DJI Mavic Mini Review: ConclusionHowever, for such a small and light drone, the DJI Mavic Mini performs well. This is a great addition. It captures video details and colors and is highly effective and visible in volume. The battery of the DJI Mavic Mini is long-lasting. In addition, it is also a guarantee of drone registration. For this reason, I have provided some simple introductory documents, including review articles and instructions for the Mavic Mini, if you have such a need.Of course, the Mavic Mini also has certain limitations. If you want to achieve a true aerial panorama or accelerated video, you can imagine using the Mavic Air, Mavic 2 Zoom or Pro. If you are an importer, it is difficult to polish it before importing it.

DJI Air 2S review: The best compact camera drone

A new image sensor and improved obstacle avoidance make the DJI Air 2S our favorite drone yet
Pros Great camera with 1-inch sensor, no need to look up to see objects, 5K video recording at 30 fps and 150 Mbits/sec
Due to lockdown restrictions in 2020, I wasn’t able to fly the predecessor of the DJI Air 2S, but that’s no big deal.
A great camera, consistent and responsive flight controls and impressive obstacle avoidance and tracking make this DJI the best consumer drone yet.
If you want to fly for more than 31 minutes at a time, you’re better off with the Fly More Combo package, which costs a bit more at £1,169.
Visually it doesn’t look too different from the Mavic Air 2. It’s slightly larger, measuring 97 x 180 x 77mm (WDH) when folded, and weighs 25g more (595g), but from a practical point of view it’s not as big as the DJI Mavic Air. 2 and the DJI Mavic Mini, Air 2S use the same DJI Fly app. The DJI Air 2S can now detect objects above, in front of, behind and below.
The DJI Air 2S reduces the megapixel count to a maximum of 20 MP and doubles the sensor size. It is able to record 10-bit D-Log M footage for easier color correction during editing. The other new features are not so important. Fly app then edits the video for you. In low light.
Finally, DJI has brought improved image stabilization to the Air 2S in the form of RockSteady EIS, which ensures super smooth videos and clear photos even in windy conditions.
DJI Air 2S review: What is it like to set up and fly?
Setup is simple: just download the DJI Fly app to your phone (available for Android and iOS), connect the phone to the remote control using the included cable and mount it in the clip on the top.
In all modes, the Air 2S flies as expected and responds immediately to remote control inputs, increasing confidence.
It’s also surprisingly quiet: DJI says it redesigned the propellers so they’re less noticeable on windless days.
40Wh DJI Air 2S battery
Flies for up to 31 minutes per charge.
As for the obstacle avoidance system, it’s impressive as always, and the addition of a pair of upward-facing cameras means the DJI Air 2S is harder to bump into than before. Be extra careful when strafing back and forth or performing spiral or circular maneuvers , but it’ll give you some peace of mind.
The system is pretty effective, too. DJI Air 2S review: How good is the camera?
The new camera is a highlight of the Air 2S. It records 5K video at 30 fps, has an 88-degree field of view, and an f/2.8 aperture.

Google Pixel 4 XL battery issues now get a one-year warranty extension – except in the UK

In response to a series of specificGoogle Pixel 4 XL battery-related issues, Google has extended the warranty of the Pixel 4 XL to a few regions.
Pixel 4 XL users in the US, Canada, Japan, Singapore, and Taiwan can now take advantage of a one-year extended repair program. But the UK, Australia, and several specified EU countries are excluded, and Google says “eligible devices will be processed as part of their normal two-year manufacturer warranty.” As
Android Police points out, such offers are usually prompted by a wave of complaints about faults, and perhaps even threats of legal action, but widespread reports of
Pixel 4 XL battery
issues have been conspicuous by the lack of such offers. Still, users in eligible countries must meet a very specific set of faults to qualify for free repairs. Google says the issues must be related to the following:
Not turning on
Phone randomly restarts or shuts down without manual restart or shutdownCharging with an adapterWireless chargingThephone’s batterydrains noticeably faster than before useOther issues are not covered by the warranty, and Google warns that other issues (such as cracked screens) may need to be dealt with at the user’s expense before battery faults are resolved for free.
If the phone was purchased in an ineligible country, users in eligible regions will also be ineligible. So if you bought a Pixel 4 XL in the UK but now live in Singapore, you won’t be able to get the free service. This may just be because the existing warranty has replaced the repair program, but on the other hand, it can also provide some insight into the nature of the problem. Android Police points out that North America, Taiwan, and Japan have their own SKUs that are different from the global models, so this issue may not affect phones purchased in Europe.

GoPro Hero 7 Black review: GoPro’s HyperSmooth video makes the Hero even better

Smooth video, waterproofing and HDR photography tricks – the Hero 7 Black is the best action camera on the market The new GoPro Hero 7 Black is an action camera that’s on a mission to blow away all the competition. Not content with improving quality with 60fps 4K recording a year ago, GoPro has now enhanced its electronic stabilization (EIS) with even better “HyperSmooth” technology.
Indeed, GoPro’s new EIS algorithm is so good that it claims “gimbal-like stability without the gimbal”. It’s a bold statement – let’s see if it holds up. In short, the new stabilization features set the new Hero 7 Black action camera apart from its competitors and predecessors, but that’s not the only new feature.
The Hero 7 Black also shoots HDR photos, has improved audio recording quality, and offers the option to live stream video. The new GoPro can also rotate its UI so you can shoot videos in both landscape and portrait modes, making it the perfect tool for the Instagram generation. GoPro Hero 7
If you want high-resolution video on the cheap, the Yi 4K+ is a good choice, and it can shoot top-notch 4K footage at 60fps. It’s not waterproof, though (you have to add a housing before swimming), and it can’t record stabilized video at the highest resolution and frame rate. The Sony FDR-X300R offers an impressive OIS and EIS combo, but it can only record 4K at 30fps and is more expensive than the GoPro (£520). Finally, there’s the GoPro Hero 5 Black (£270) and GoPro Hero 7 Silver (£280). The latter is the cheaper version of the Hero 7 Black – it can shoot 4K at up to 30fps, and while video is stabilized, it doesn’t have the latest “HyperSmooth” stabilization features offered by its more expensive brother. GoPro Hero 7 Black review: design and featuresThe Hero 7 Black looks much like last year’s Hero 6 Black. It’s about the size of a matchbox, with the square lens housing still jutting out a few millimeters at the front.
It may be boring, but it’s a very good thing, especially if you use GoPros in a professional capacity, as you probably already own a range of mounts and accessories. In fact, you can use the GoPro Hero 7 with any accessory dating back to the Hero 5 Black. As with older GoPro cameras, the GoPro has two covers: one houses the camera’s removable 1,220mAh battery and microSD card slot, while the other hides a micro-HDMI 2.0 video output and a USB-Type C “super charger” port that can also be used for data transfer.
The power and shutter buttons are in the same places – on the left edge and on the top plate – and behind is a 2-inch touchscreen that can now be used in both landscape and portrait modes. There’s also a simple monochrome LCD screen on the front that displays key information such as mode and elapsed time. Battery life hasn’t improved since last year’s model, which is a shame. Expect about 70 minutes of use when shooting 4K at 60fps with HyperSmooth stabilization enabled. According to GoPro, HyperSmooth will consume a little
GoPro Hero 7 Black camera battery
power – so if you disable it, yourGoPro Hero camera batterylife will improve slightly.
Charging times aren’t long, especially when using the fast charger provided in the box, but I’d recommend carrying a power bank or a few spare batteries with you when you’re out shooting. Unfortunately, there’s still no tripod thread on the camera body, but the camera is fully waterproof to a depth of 10 meters. Being able to throw a GoPro in a pool and take it diving, surfing and swimming without worrying about it breaking is a huge plus. Its competitors, such as the Yi 4K+, require waterproof housings to survive immersion, which seriously affects the sound quality when out of the water.
If you need the camera to take it for a deeper dive, it’s possible, but you’ll need to buy GoPro’s £50 Super Suit case, which protects the action camera at a depth of up to 60 meters.

Motorola Razr 50 review

The Motorola Razr 50 is a huge success, fixing almost all of the issues with the first affordable foldable Motorola Razr 50 phone while matching the premium Razr 50 Ultra in key ways. It’s not a perfect foldable phone, but it ticks a lot of boxes for £799/$799.
Not only does it offer a huge upgrade to the cover display, but users can also enjoy improved camera technology, new AI smarts and improved performance while still keeping it more affordable.
The fact that it outperforms the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 in key ways and is a more affordable alternative to Samsung’s premium clamshell foldable phone makes it particularly interesting. DesignLarger 3.6-inch cover screenIPX8 water resistanceStylish colour optionsLast year’s Motorola Razr 40 was the first attempt at making a more affordable clamshell foldable phone, and it worked well, but as we discussed in our review at the time, the small cover screen was just too limited in what it could do compared to almost every other foldable phone on the market.
With the Razr 40, we had a number of complaints about its overall build quality compared to the flagship 40 Ultra, with our reviewer noting that the Fold’s screen actually squeaks when unfolded.
That’s not the case with the new model, however, which feels just as solid and premium as the Ultra model and features a redesigned hinge mechanism, though it still doesn’t feel as sturdy as the Z Flip 6 and its rock-solid construction. The Razr 50 has the same levels of protection as the higher-end Razr 50 Ultra, including covered screen protection in the form of Corning’s premium Gorilla Glass Victus, and IPX8 water resistance, meaning it can survive being submerged in up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes without breaking a sweat.
While this means the Ultra model suffers from reduced dust resistance, the regular Razr 40 didn’t offer any official IP rating, so improved dust resistance is a welcome addition here — especially in the more affordable realm of foldable phones, which are prone to drops from the elements. Take a look at the Nubia Flip 5G and you’ll see what I mean. It’s worth noting that it uses an LTPO panel that can downclock to 1Hz to saveMotorola Razr 50 phone battery life, a feature not available on many similarly priced candy-bar phones, let alone foldable phones.
The good news is that the redesigned hinge mechanism has managed to significantly reduce the crease on the foldable screen. Sure, it’s still there if you look at it from the side, but from the front, you won’t notice anything – and the dent is shallower than on products like Samsung, so you won’t notice much when you run your finger across it. Its main camera is the same as the one in the high-end Razr 50 Ultra. This means that, like the high-end model, the Razr 50 can take some very impressive photos. Photos taken in daylight are vivid and detailed, and while some colors (especially greens and blues) have a slightly unnatural tint, it does make the photos taken very eye-catching. The 4200mAh
Motorola Razr 50 phone battery
(200mAh larger than the Razr 40 Ultra, by the way) plus the combination of the LTPO display and the power-efficient chipset make the Razr 50 easily last a full day, especially with the more convenient cover display, which means you don’t always have to use the more power-hungry 6.9-inch panel.
While 30W charging may not sound all that impressive, especially when premium foldables like the OnePlus Open offer 67W fast charging, don’t let that fool you; using the 33W charger included in the box, you’ll see 50% charge in 25 minutes, and a full charge takes less than an hour.
There’s also 15W wireless charging – a surprise given the foldable’s lower price, but a welcome one nonetheless

Vivo V40 Pro review

The Vivo V40 Pro takes great photos, has long battery life, and plenty of power for an affordable price. The problem, as always, is usability. Key FeaturesUltra-thin body, big capacityThe Vivo V40 Pro batteryis crammed into a 7.6mm-thick body, making it one of the best battery size-to-thickness ratios we’ve seen. It charges very quickly, too, with support for 80W wired charging.Impressive performance The upgrade to the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ makes the Vivo V40 Pro the best V-series gaming phone yet. It’s a very noticeable improvement.Excellent cameras and image processing The four 50MP cameras and excellent processing power go hand in hand to take some of the best photos in this price range. It’s especially good for portraits and selfies.

Vivo V40 Pro side
The frame is made of plastic, which is the first sign that this isn’t a flagship. However, while the plastic may not feel that premium, it should be fairly durable. Vivo says it added reinforcement and cushioning materials to improve the phone’s resistance to drops and shocks.
A typical clear TPU case is included in the box, which isn’t anything special, but it’s nice to have, especially since cases for the V series are hard to come by. There’s also a factory-applied plastic screen protector included to keep the display from getting scuffed.
Screen8.78-inch 120Hz OLED2800 x 1260 resolution, curved edges4500 nits peak brightnessAt first glance, the V40 Pro’s display is nearly identical to the V30 Pro’s, with the exact same resolution and refresh rate. The difference this time around is that it has a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, a significant increase over the 2,800-nit output of its predecessor. Colors look fairly accurate by default, but there’s plenty of customization in the settings if you want to tweak the look. There are three main profiles you can choose from, and you can adjust the color temperature for each.
Cameras50MP OIS main camera (1/1.56-inch)50MP 2x telephoto (1/2.51-inch)50MP ultra-wide with autofocus (1/2.76-inch)50MP wide-angle selfie camera with autofocusThe V40 Pro has a quad 50MP camera array, just like the V30 Pro. The specs remain largely the same, but the main sensor has been swapped from the Sony IMX920 to the IMX921Vivo Cell Phone battery.Life5500mAh Silicon Carbon Battery80W Wired Flash ChargingNo Wireless ChargingThe V40 Pro uses Vivo’s latest BlueVolt Vivo V40 Pro phone battery technology, which means the brand was somehow able to cram a whopping 5500mAh battery into a very slim body. This phone has a larger battery capacity than some of the most expensive flagship phones on the market, which is very impressive for a phone like this.
Unsurprisingly, this phone lasts a long time on a charge. I barely managed to get through two days without having to lift a finger, and it was not uncommon to go to bed with 60%Vivo V40 Pro phone battery left. Of course, theVivo V40 Pro phone batterylife depends a lot on what you’re doing. If you spend hours playing graphics-intensive games, or shooting a lot of video, then you may need to charge more frequently, but you shouldn’t have trouble by the end of the day regardless.
The phone charges very quickly, too. An 80W wall adapter is included in the box, and it takes about half an hour to charge from completely empty to 60%. A full charge takes about 50 minutes.
There’s no wireless charging, but that’s not surprising, as wireless charging is still a rarity in this price segment. Wireless charging is becoming more common, though, so hopefully we’ll see it in future V-series phones.

Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 14 review: An affordable 2-in-1 laptop worth having

One thing Lenovo does very well is make laptops. They’re usually light, thin, stylish, and powerful, depending on the model you buy. The Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 14 2-in-1 offers some pretty decent specs while also being able to switch to tablet mode when you want to use it in a simpler mode.

SpecificationThe Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 14 2-in-1 laptop has the following features and specs (available in multiple models): DesignLenovo’s laptops have become more stylish and attractive over the years, and design has become their strong point. The same goes for the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 14 2-in-1. It’s stylish, slim, lightweight and easy on the eyes.

As for the sides of the 2-in-1, there are two USB 3.1 ports, an SD card reader, and the power button on the right side. The left side has a power adapter port for charging the laptop, an HDMI port for connecting another monitor or TV, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The bottom is pretty typical for a laptop. It has 4 rubber pieces so the PC is not flush with the surface and the vents are right behind
exhibitThe screen size is 14 inches, which is perfect for whatever you use your laptop for. The resolution is 1920 x 1080 (Full HD), which is perfect for a screen of this size. Viewing angles are good, text is clear, and colors are as close to natural as possible. However, the brightness must be adjusted to higher levels to see the screen more clearly without seeing yourself in the reflection.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 14 comes with an FHD display. Not everyone will have this problem depending on what you’re doing, but I rarely turn the screen brightness to max unless I need to.
One thing to note is that touch screens are fingerprint magnets. I find myself cleaning the screen more often than necessary, but that’s what happens when you use a touch screen a lot, and it’s inherent to most touchscreen monitors.
softwareWindows 10 Home comes pre-installed on the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 14, which includes some light bloatware and Lenovo apps. There are a lot of games installed by default (thanks Microsoft!) and you can always uninstall them if you don’t want to use them.sound qualityThe Flex 6 14 features 2x 2-watt Dobly Audio speakers, which are pointed downwards to hit the surface the laptop is sitting on. They sound good, but are on the quiet end of the spectrum. At night I set the volume to 10 and couldn’t hear the sound as clearly as I would with a 2017 Surface Pro. Sure, it has front-facing speakers, but since the laptop is on a flat surface and the sound is pushed downwards and outwards, it still sounds a little too quiet for me. There was no noticeable muffled or distorted sound when using the Flex 14.
cameraThe IdeaPad Flex 14 uses a 720p webcam and even has a webcam shutter for privacy. The photo results are pretty good for a standard webcam on a laptop. Nothing to write home about, but good enough for casual video chats. IdeaPad Flex 14 laptop battery lifeFlex 14 specs suggest the battery will last up to 8 hours on a single charge. During this review, I got about 5 and a half hours of use on a single charge a day. This includes website content writing, video and photo editing, gaming and streaming.

Battery life on this laptop is already pretty good, charging up to 80% in about an hour using the included fast charger. It’s not USB Type-C for charging, but regular proprietary charging will do the job just fine.

At the end of the day, the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 14 2-in-1 is a great laptop and worth buying. You can’t ignore the affordable starting price of $359.99 and the specs it comes with. Sure, there are some drawbacks you can overlook, like slow startup times or too quiet sound quality, but everything else makes up for them. I would recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a laptop on a budget that doesn’t require much power.

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 review: Great sound at a great price

At first glance, Sennheiser’s new Momentum True Wireless 2 look pretty much the same as their predecessor, but don’t be fooled into thinking the German manufacturer is resting on its laurels.
Its second-generation true wireless earbuds improve on the original with active noise cancellation (ANC), significantly improved battery life, and a slimmer design that puts them on par with the best true wireless earbuds on the market.

While active noise cancellation is the standout new feature of the True Wireless 2, it’s worth mentioning that, like the previous generation, these earbuds also offer a handy transparency mode that lets you mix outside sound in with whatever else you’re listening to. Like the previous generation, they also automatically pause when you remove either earbud from your ear.
Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2: Price and CompetitionThe True Wireless 2 has a list price of £280, the same as its predecessor when it launched. However, at the time of writing, the older model is available for a lower price of £190, so if you’re willing to give up ANC and longerSennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 battery life, you might want to consider buying one.
Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 Headphone battery : Design, Comfort and AppsDespite Sennheiser’s claims of improved ergonomics for its True Wireless earbuds, in reality, the design has barely changed since the first version, aside from being noticeably smaller. In many ways, that’s a good thing, but when it comes to comfort, I was impressed.
Because of the large housing, it can take a little while to find the best angle to insert the earbuds into your ear canal at first. Once I got the hang of it, though, I had no trouble inserting the earbuds and was happy to wear them for hours at a time.
If I have one complaint about the design of these earbuds, it’s the same one Christopher Minasians had with the first-generation Momentum True Wireless earbuds: the finicky nature of the touch controls. The steepness of the learning curve is more irritating with these earbuds than anything else. In fact, because you need to have fairly precise and nimble fingers, I initially found myself tapping the right earbud once to activate Google Assistant, or twice to enable Transparency mode, rather than tapping three times to turn ANC on and off.
You can also turn the earbuds’ various smart features on or off through the mobile app. The Smart Pause feature, which automatically pauses music when you remove an earbud from your ear, is enabled by default, as is the Auto Answer Call feature, which answers calls as soon as you remove the right earbud from the charging case. Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2: Sound Quality, Transparency Mode, and ConnectivityThe mobile app also allows you to customize the earbuds’ EQ, which is a nice feature if you’re someone who likes to tinker with this sort of thing, but I didn’t find it necessary.
When reviewing the original, Chris declared them the best-sounding true wireless earphones he’d ever heard, and after a few days with the True Wireless 2, I can say the same about the new model.
Unsurprisingly, with the hardware remaining largely unchanged, the True Wireless 2s are every bit as impressive as their predecessors. More specifically, they offer a sense of space that belies their design, and have excellent instrument separation that helps make for a truly engaging listening experience. The feature is undoubtedly a welcome addition, but the effect wanes as the volume increases, more so than with over-ear or in-ear headphones. If you’re the type of person who always listens to music loudly, then this feature may not be essential for you.
Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2: ReviewAside from these and a few other minor quibbles, I’ve been very happy with my experience with the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2s. In fact, I haven’t bought any other earphones, wireless or otherwise, since receiving them, which is a testament to how good the sound quality and comfort of these earphones are.
