Kodak Pixpro AZ521 Review

Design and FeaturesThe AZ521 is one of the first cameras released under the Kodak brand since the company announced its exit from digital cameras in early 2012. As part of its successful bankruptcy reorganization, the company licensed its brand to Chinese manufacturer JK Imaging: the AZ521, AZ362 ($0.00 at Amazon), and AZ522 are the first new Kodak-branded cameras to hit the U.S. market.
The AZ521 is a bridge camera, meaning its design bridges the gap between a compact camera and a SLR. From a distance, it looks like a shrunken SLR, even with a fake viewfinder bump on top that houses the pop-up flash, but the zoom lens is fixed to the body. For $50 more, you can opt to upgrade to a nearly identical camera that adds an eye-level viewfinder, the Pixpro AZ522. I checked the sharpness of the AZ521 zoom lens using Imatest. Standard PCMag sharpness testing is conducted at the camera’s widest angle and uses a center-weighted method to generate scores. A camera passes the test if it achieves or exceeds 1,800 lines of sharpness per picture height. The AZ521 does just that, scoring 1,932 lines in testingKodak Pixpro AZ521  Camera BatteryThe studio space where testing was conducted was too small to test the lens at 52x magnification, but a crop of the Flatiron Building telephoto (below) shows just how blurry the AZ521 is at 52x. The same photo shot with a Fujifilm SL1000 scored 2,773 lines on a sharpness test, which is much sharper—though it should be noted that there’s some chromatic aberration in images captured with the Fuji camera. It can be removed with a few clicks in the software application, but the details that the AZ521 missed can’t be added in that way. Imatest also checks photos for noise, and this is where the AZ521 struggled. At the base ISO 100 setting, it was only able to keep noise below 1.5 percent. I took a close look at its images on a calibrated NEC MultiSync PA271W ($0.00 at Amazon) monitor to see how excessive noise affects image quality. It’s not a good thing; in our standard ISO test scene, the fine lines of a foreign banknote start to show noise at ISO 400 and disappear completely at ISO 800. The Panasonic FZ200 is a better camera for use in average light; it has an f/2.8 lens and keeps noise under control through ISO 800.

Logitech launches new Keys-To-Go 2 mobile keyboard that can pair with three mobile devices at once

Logitech has just announced a new mobile keyboard for consumers who use tablets, laptops, and phones as a multi-device mobile workspace.
The Logitech Keys-To-Go 2 is an ultra-portable wireless keyboard designed for mobile computing. As such, it’s compatible with multiple operating systems and supports a variety of platforms, including Android, Windows, iPadOS, iOS, macOS, and ChromeOS It can also connect to up to three devices simultaneously via Bluetooth, and users can switch between them by pressing the Easy-Switch key.
This means you can use a single portable keyboard to switch between your iPad, Android phone, and Windows-based work laptop without the need for additional cables or wires. While it feels a bit redundant (especially when you’re taking up valuable desk space in a cafe or airport lounge), it’s perfect for short work sessions, and your fingers never leave the same keyboard.

Logitech Keys-To-Go 2 Mobile Keyboard batteryThe Keys-To-Go 2 has an 18mm scissor key spacing and 1mm of key travel, which Logitech says makes for a comfortable typing experience on the go. It also comes with a built-in cover to protect against accidental spills and damage.
Logitech claims that the Keys-To-Go 2 is powered by two removable coin-cell batteries, which should last up to three years before requiring a battery replacement.

Doogee S96 Pro: Do what your iPhone can’t

This is a rugged Android smartphone with the world’s first built-in infrared night vision. I’m a fan of rugged Android smartphones. Many phones can do things my iPhone can’t do and go places my iPhone can’t go. The new Doogee S96 Pro has a super useful feature that flagship smartphones don’t have – built-in infrared night vision, which is a world first for rugged smartphones.
From the outside, the S96 Pro is similar to many other rugged smartphones I’ve seen in the past few years. It has a huge display covered in rubber and metal, and sealed ports.
Also: Best rugged phones of 2021
But the back of this smartphone, as part of the camera module, has an infrared camera with an infrared blaster. This is what makes the S96Pro special.
Doogee S96Pro: Android 10 + Night Vision As a smartphone, the S96 Pro is fast, lag-free, and nice to use. The fast octa-core processor helps keep things running smoothly. I’ve been using it for a few weeks and have no issues or complaints.
But the infrared night vision feature makes it an edge over the rest. While the main camera is a 48-megapixel Samsung S5KGM1SP03-FGX9, the night vision sensor used in the smartphone is a Sony IMX350 20-megapixel camera sensor.
Night vision is specifically different from thermal imaging. Thermal imaging reads infrared light emitted by objects, while night vision uses infrared floodlights to illuminate darkness, which the camera uses to see objects clearly in the dark.
But there are some limitations – the range of the transmitter is about 10 meters, and it can only take grayscale still photos. In addition, the part of the infrared transmitter visible to the naked eye is dark red.Doogee S96Pro Battery: 6.35AhCharging: 24WSIM Tray: Dual SIM + microSDSatellite Navigation: GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDouProtection Rating: IP68 / IP69K, MIL-STD-810G
I wore the S96Pro walking in total darkness both indoors and outdoors, not only taking photos, but also using the night vision camera to see and navigate in the dark. It works really well. Much better than I expected.
For the price — the Doogee S96 Pro is currently selling for $220 — it represents an excellent package. Even if you don’t want or need night vision, it’s a solid, reliable, durable, and very useful smartphone. The display is pleasing to the eye, the camera takes beautiful photos, and it has everything you’d expect from a smartphone. For anyone who spends time outdoors, especially at night, having a rugged smartphone with built-in night vision can provide them with features that a $1,000 iPhone or Android smartphone can’t.

Fujifilm Finepix V10 digital camera review

“Photography makes socializing more fun” is Fujifilm’s slogan for its V10 camera, and its unusually high ISO sensitivity should help you take great photos after dark. Gary Wolstenholme sees if this camera can really be the life of the party. Build and handlingThe V10’s body is made almost entirely of metal, but with the large screen and delicate controls on the back, it feels more like an expensive accessory than a solid device. There are no finger grips on the front, nor room for your thumb on the back. The screen takes up most of the camera’s space, and you have to reach around it. I found it almost impossible to use it with one hand, and instead had to hold it between the fingers and thumbs of both hands.
The display is protected by a shiny acrylic sheet, which can cause problems when shooting in bright conditions, as the reflective surface makes it difficult to see.
AutofocusTwo AF modes can be selected from the menu, one that locks on the center of the frame, and another that automatically selects the AF point for you. Both modes perform well and lock quickly. The center AF mode is the faster of the two, with minimal lag.Fujifilm FinePix V10 Camera Battery  LifeIt certainly takes a fair bit of juice to power the huge screen, and I managed to get about 120 shots on a fully charged Camera Battery Fujifilmbefore it died.
Memory CardsThe V10 uses xD memory cards, which slot into the slot next to the battery. Here are the write speeds using the Jpeg quality setting using an Olympus xD card. There are Auto, Manual, Natural Light, Portrait, Landscape, Sports, and Night exposure modes to choose from in the menu. Auto is a simple point-and-shoot shooting mode, while Manual mode allows for control over the flash mode and the amount of exposure compensation used. The rest are all automatic scene modes that adjust exposure based on your chosen subject, with the exception of the Natural Light mode, which simply disables the flash, letting you take full advantage of this camera’s wider-than-normal ISO range.
Zoom LensThe V10’s 3.4x zoom range is a little longer than normal, equivalent to 36-130mm on a 35mm camera. Zooming is quick and precise, but I found the paddle zoom control cumbersome to use, especially since it’s perched on the bottom of the camera out of harm’s way.
I was impressed with the V10’s control of digital noise in macro mode. Images shot up to ISO400 are clean and sharp, with only a small amount of noise visible at ISO400. Noise becomes more noticeable at ISO800 and ISO1600, but it’s still usable for small prints of about 6×4 inches. Another feature of images shot at these high sensitivity settings is the heavy use of in-camera noise reduction, which smooths out speckling. Unfortunately, this also reduces detail and produces strange speckle patterns.
ConclusionThe Fuji Finepix V10 is a love-it-or-hate-it camera. The unusual operation may be enough to put some people off. That being said, the LCD screen is very good, image quality is good, and it’s simple and responsive to use.

OnePlus 6T battery life test results: One of the best battery-powered phones

The OnePlus 6T may be an incremental update to the OnePlus 6, as both phones share a similar design, but there are two key areas of innovation in the 6T that are worth noting: the first is the in-screen fingerprint scanner, and the second is the larger One Plus 6T battery. This is important.
The new OnePlus 6T features a 3,700mAh OnePlus 6T battery, the largest battery OnePlus has ever put in one of its phones, and significantly larger than the 3,400mAh battery used in the 6. So, are there any major differences in battery life that you should care about? To understand this, we ran our proprietary OnePlus 6T battery life test, and the results suggest that there are. The OnePlus 6T lasted a very respectable 9 hours and 52 minutes, beating most flagships of 2018 and easily one of the highest scores for a phone with an AMOLED screen. The battery life of the OnePlus 6T is impressive.
This score beats the iPhone XS Max, Samsung Galaxy Note 9, and Pixel 3 XL, which is great news for those considering the 6T as their next flagship.
The two phones the 6T lost out to in our battery tests were the excellent Huawei Mate 20 (not the Pro, which had more average battery life) and the iPhone XR, both of which have more energy-efficient LCD screens. The other part of the battery equation is how long it takes to charge the phone from 0 to 100%. The OnePlus 6T ships with the iconic OnePlus Fast Charger and red USB-C cable In our charging tests, we saw the OnePlus 6T perform well again, charging very quickly. A full charge took just 1 hour and 25 minutes, meaning you can forget about charging the phone overnight and just plug it in for a few minutes during your lunch break to get enough juice to get you through the day. As a result, this makes the OnePlus 6T one of the best phones for OnePlus 6T battery life in 2018, and a sign of the great work the OnePlus team has done in optimizingOnePlus phone battery performance.

Motorola Moto 360 review

The Moto 360 is still our favorite Android Wear device, but it’s not a perfect smartwatch The Motorola Moto 360 used to be one of the best smartwatches around. The fact that it was the only round watch you could buy made it stand out from the crowd. But now you wouldn’t want one for two reasons. First, the chipset it uses, the TI OMAP 3, is now outdated, as it was already two years old when the Moto 360 was released in 2014. Smartwatches aren’t very demanding on power, but the problem is that this bottleneck still makes it one of the few smartwatches that didn’t get Android Wear 2.0 or subsequently switch to Wear OS.
In terms of basic functionality, this watch is not bad, and if you already own one, then you’ll most likely still be happy using it. But if you’re buying one today, then it’s something you should avoid. In fact, even buying the Moto 360 2 might be a mistake. Yes, it’s better in every way, but given that the company has confirmed that it will no longer be involved in the smartwatch space, future support looks very uncertain. The Moto 360 has long been the face of Google’s Android Wear OS. Its sleek design and eye-catching round screen were light years ahead of the bland LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live, so many customers were willing to wait until it was released to experience wearable technology for the first time. Now that moment has arrived, and while the Moto 360 is certainly a beautiful product, it’s not the leap we hoped for – although Google is as much to blame for the 360’s failure as Motorola.
Moto 360 designAs a product, the Moto 360 is a thing of beauty. Made of stainless steel in a choice of black or silver, with a crown on one side and no ports, sockets or inputs of any kind, the base model is the most minimalist smartwatch on the market, and the round screen is undoubtedly eye-catching. Yes, it’s thicker than the average watch, but it’s definitely not: you can easily pull it out from under a shirt sleeve. It doesn’t look big on a large wrist, but it will look big on a small wrist; the Apple Watch will offer two sizes to address this problem, while Motorola has taken a one-size-fits-all approach. Motorola has added Qi wireless charging to the Moto 360, getting rid of the port or charging terminal found on other smartwatches. The charging dock also acts as a display stand for the watch, letting you check the time while it charges, but you’ll have to carry the dock with you to charge the watch when you travel – assuming you don’t have access to another Qi charging pad.
The watch itself has an IP67 water resistance rating, which means it won’t get damaged if you get caught in the rain, though it remains to be seen how the leather strap fares when wet. We’ve worn it in the rain a few times, and so far the color has held up, but it’s starting to wrinkle a bit like any leather would. It’s a shame that Motorola didn’t come up with a stainless steel band sooner (although it’s now available through Moto Maker), but we still like the leather strap. Available in black and gray to match the black and silver watch finish, the Horween leather is comfortable to wear, has plenty of adjustment holes to fit wrists of different sizes, and, most importantly, doesn’t distract from the watch itself. You can swap out the strap, but it’s a tedious process, and since the watch is round, not all straps will fit flush.
Moto 360 DisplayThe visually stunning circular screen covers nearly the entire watch face. With a resolution of 320×290, it’s sharp enough to easily read text at arm’s length, and the display is clearly visible in direct sunlight even at the lowest brightness. Colors aren’t as vibrant as the OLED screens Samsung uses in its wearables, but the image still packs a punch when you turn up the brightness. We especially like the raised glass, which has beveled edges that catch light well, and Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 should help prevent nicks or scratches. It’s a shame that Motorola opted for LCD technology over OLED, which would have been much better for the Moto 360 Smart Watch batterylife of the
Moto 360 – ReviewOn paper, the Moto 360 is the most desirable piece of wearable tech we’ve ever seen. It’s stylish, made from premium materials, and highly customizable with third-party watch faces. However, it’s essentially a compromise: an LCD screen and an outdated processor result in mediocre Moto 360 Smart Watch battery life, which puts it at the bottom of the smartwatch rankings in terms of durability. Android Wear is still in its infancy, with usability issues and a lack of features, and while Motorola can’t be held responsible for that, the OS can still be frustrating to use at times.

Asus Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition review

25 years ago, Asus sent its first laptop, the P6300, to the Mir space station, and to commemorate the achievement, the Taiwanese tech giant has launched the Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition (UX5401ZAS).
Overall, I was impressed by the design and excellent construction of the Asus Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition. In these terms, it is undoubtedly one of the best laptops currently available in the market. ZenVision DisplayMoving on to the Asus Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition’s secondary display, called the ZenVision Display, is one of the standout features of this special edition laptop. It’s a 3.65-inch PMOLED screen with a resolution of 265×64 pixels and a brightness of 150 nits.
This monochrome screen can be customized to display space-themed animations, text, and personal labels. You can also customize it to display smart notifications, including time, date, and battery life, as well as display a music equalizer, custom messages, Microsoft Teams status, and even business cards. Speakers and WebcamThe Asus Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition comes with a pair of bottom-firing stereo speakers that are tuned and certified by audio experts Harman Kardon. It also supports Dolby Atmos for an immersive audio experience through the built-in speakers as well as headphones and home theater systems connected to the laptop.
Dolby Access App Dolby Access App Keyboard and TrackpadThe Asus Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition comes with a chiclet-style keyboard that Asus calls the ErgoSense keyboard. It has a key pitch of 19.05mm, a key travel of 1.4mm, and the keycaps have a 0.2mm dished indentation.
While the keyboard is fairly compact, it hasn’t skimped on the Home, End, Page Up, and Page Down keys – which I personally find very useful for my workflow. There are also inverted-T-shaped arrow keys, which ensures that you don’t press nearby keys while navigating without moving your eyes from the screen to the keyboard.
Asus Zenbook 14X OLED BatteryThe Asus Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition has a 3-cell 63Wh lithium-ion battery with support for 100W Type-C fast charging. Asus hasn’t released any battery life figures yet, but in my daily use, the Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition lasted an average of 4 hours on a single charge with the power mode set to best performance.
I used the Asus Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition for productivity, which included working in Google Chrome (with an average of at least 10-15 tabs open in multiple windows), editing documents in an office suite, and doing some basic photo editing. During this time, I turned the keyboard backlight to maximum brightness and always had Bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned on. The display resolution was set to 2,880×1,800 pixels, the screen brightness was 15%, and the refresh rate was set to 90Hz. I also enabled Windows Dark Mode.
However, your mileage will vary based on your usage and other settings, including power mode, display resolution, and screen refresh rate.

Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6-inch review

The Huawei MediaPad X1 is one of two tablets the Chinese company unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014, but the 7-inch tablet has the edge over its 8-inch sibling, the MediaPad M1.
A quick look at the MediaPad X1’s spec sheet shows it looks like a worthy competitor to the likes of the Nexus 7 and Amazon Kindle Fire HDX, which currently dominate the small tablet market.
The MediaPad X1 features a 1.6GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD slot, 4G connectivity, and a 5000mAhHuawei MediaPad X1 battery
—much larger than the 3950mAh battery in the Nexus 7. One minor issue with the MediaPad X1 might be its price, as Huawei couldn’t tell me how much it’ll cost.
Considering the MediaPad X1 is scheduled to be released in the second half of 2014, companies like Google and Amazon may have already updated their tablet offerings, which could make the X1 feel a little dated.
I was pleased to see that the narrow bezels around the 7-inch display make the MediaPad X1 smaller than the Nexus 7 and Kinde Fire HDX, which means it’s easier to hold in one hand. At 183.5 x 103.9 x 7.18mm, it’s one of the smallest 7-inch tablets out there, adding to its portability, and I found it to sit quite comfortably in my palm

The centrally located power/lock key on the right side (in portrait mode) is easy to hit, as is the volume switch above it, while there’s a headphone jack on the top of the tablet and a microUSB port on the base.
The buttons do feel a little loose in their slots, and they all rattled when I shook the tablet, which calls into question the durability of some aspects of the device.
The MediaPad X1 looks more premium than its bigger brother, the M1, with a silver band around the perimeter and a metal plate at the back that makes this tablet feel like the real deal.
While the screen does have a Full HD resolution, I found it to be less crisp than the Nexus or Kindle Fire – there was noticeable blurring around app icons, partly due to Huawei’s Emotion 2.0 UI overlay.
The MediaPad X1 runs Android 4.2.2 at its core, but the Huawei overlay dampens it somewhat, and its style makes the screen experience feel like a child’s toy. That’s a shame, because the X1 does look relatively high-end in terms of hardware, but the icons Huawei forces on you are disappointing.
One nice feature is the ability to hide the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen, letting you make the most of the 7-inch space by simply swiping up from the bottom to get back.
Movement on the MediaPad X1 seemed pretty smooth, but it did lack the dynamism of other tablets I’ve used – but Huawei attributes that to the fact that the unit I got my hands on wasn’t running final software. If Huawei can fix the issues with interface lag and improve the camera’s image quality, the MediaPad X1 will be a serious contender in the 7-inch tablet market.
However, its Achilles’ heel may be its timing, as by the time it hits stores, competitors may have already launched their next-generation tablets – making the Media Pad X1 uncompetitive before it even hits the market.

Dell Venue 10 Pro 5056 review

Built for business users, the Dell Venue 10 Pro 5056 is a midsize tablet that offers decent performance and strong portability, but its shortDell Venue 10 Pro 5056 Tablets batterylife and heavy build hold it back. Tablets with optional attachable keyboards promise to be great for work and play, but few are designed specifically for business users. The 10.1-inch Dell Venue 10 Pro 5056 (starts at $499, $699 as tested) is an Atom-powered tablet designed with productivity, security, and durability in mind. Dell has equipped the tablet with a bright, vivid display and a keyboard accessory that makes typing comfortable in a variety of positions. Unfortunately, the Venue 10 Pro’s bulky build and below-average battery life detract from what would otherwise be a great experience.
Design
The black plastic Dell Venue 10 Pro 5065 doesn’t look sexy, but it does feel nice in the hand. The tablet’s soft-touch back is comfortable to hold, and the thick bezels protect against accidental taps.
Display
The Dell Venue 10 Pro 5056’s bright screen, with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, is perfect for watching videos at the end of a long workday. When I watched the trailer for Doctor Strange, I was impressed by the tablet’s display, which showed crisp details, such as every wrinkle on Benedict Cumberbatch’s rumpled face and every spiderweb-like crack in the shattered windshield. The night sky appeared inky black, the waves lapping at the shore were a deep blue, and a vibrant golden spire stood out.
Dell Venue 10 Pro 5056 Display Performance
The Dell Venue 10 Pro is a powerful tablet that allows for efficient multitasking, but its competitors are more powerful. Our test unit was equipped with a 1.4-GHz Intel Atom Z8500 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 128GB eMMC hard drive. The Venue 10 Pro 5056 scored 2,892 on the GeekBench 3 general performance benchmark, just above the average tablet (2,809). We saw higher scores on the Exynos 5433-powered 9.7-inch Galaxy Tab S2 (4,175), the A9X-powered 9.7-inch iPad Pro (5,151), the Core M3-powered Galaxy TabPro S (4,675), and the Atom x7-Z8700-powered Microsoft Surface 3 (3,531).
The lower score is likely due to the Venue 10 Pro’s eMMC hard drive, which needed 1 minute and 47 seconds to copy 4.97GB of multimedia files at a speed of 46.99 MBps. That may beat the Surface 3 (33.7 MBps), but the Galaxy TabPro S (117.73 MBps) and the average tablet (88.55 MBps) copied faster.

Apple is finally starting to make generative AI a reality.

This month, Apple held its developer conference, called WWDC. It’s an annual event that’s typically used to showcase the company’s most important innovations. Many of this year’s presentations were devoted to artificial intelligence (AI), or what Apple calls “Apple Intelligence.”
While Google and Microsoft have made forays into AI with Gemini and OpenAI, respectively, Apple has so far taken a narrower approach. The AI models deployed on iPhone hardware are relatively weak. AI models are evaluated by their many “parameters,” or variables that are adjusted during the training process. OpenAI’s GPT-4 has more than 1.5 trillion parameters, while Apple’s model has 3 billion.
For queries that require more processing power, users can choose to outsource tasks to ChatGPT via the cloud through an enterprise licensing agreement. The licensing agreement appears to be in exchange for access to OpenAI, not payment. In other words, there’s no superintelligent thinking machine at Apple — at least not yet. As a result, the response to the presentations at the conference was somewhat muted. John Herman in New York wrote that this reflects “Apple’s cautious approach,” perhaps concerned about investing too much in technology that isn’t as advanced as I’ve been hyped. Josh Tyrandziel of The Washington Post described Apple Intelligence as “the first rational theory of AI for the masses,” praising the partnership between the established computing company and the startup OpenAI and its limited scope of application. We should celebrate the fact that Apple has not yet fully entered the AI arms race. Google’s rapid pace of catching up with Microsoft’s AI development is already accelerating the decline of Google’s search tools. However, my impression of WWDC is not very optimistic. In a sense, Apple Intelligence, a small model that will eventually be installed in more than 1 billion iPhones worldwide, is a key step in determining its fate. In other words, once AI enters our personal lives, there is no turning back.
《New Personal Intelligence System》As demonstrated in the presentation, the upcoming iPhone AI can rewrite emails on your behalf, aggregate text messages for active groups, and sort notifications to see which messages appear first, and you can also sort them. Apple CEO Tim Cook described the tool as not just a tool, but a “new personal intelligence system” that acts as a semi-autonomous second brain.
His comments reminded me of Steve Jobs, who declared in 1990 that computers were “intelligent bicycles.”
Apple says its AI tool will be more dynamic and useful than OpenAI’s ChatGPT because it will have access to all your daily information, such as where you travel, what books you read, who you talk to on the phone (ChatGPT, despite its amazing capabilities, still operates in a limited prompt window). “AI tools need to understand the user and be rooted in their personal context, including their daily lives and relationships,” Cook said at WWDC. Apple’s voice assistant Siri, which has been in the iPhone since 2011, can (mostly) understand what you say, set alarms, and check the weather. Meanwhile, Apple Intelligence operates like a turbocharged Siri, more like a ghost inside the machine, controlling the iPhone’s functions.
In the AI community, such tools are called “agents.” With access to all your contacts, messages, and calendars, agents can help you plan your life. Apple gave the example of asking the tool to “play the podcast my wife sent me the other day.” While it would be great to have a machine that can decipher such ambiguous expressions, it also means that your iPhone needs to understand who your wife is and sort out your conversations with her, which I have to think about.
The fact that Apple’s AI is designed to work on the device itself, rather than through the cloud, provides some protection for users’ vulnerable personal data. However, generative AI is still prone to random misunderstandings and “hallucinations.” Hallucination is an AI term that is a euphemism for dramatic errors. AI does not have the ability to determine what is factually accurate or relevant to reality. Cook told The Washington Post in a somewhat uncertain tone that while the tool will never be 100% accurate, “I believe it will be of very high quality.”
It would conceivably take only one freak accident to turn iPhone users away from AI. Another question asked at the conference was “When does my mother land?” If answered incorrectly, it could lead to a huge mistake at the airport pick-up. Even more terrible is the disaster of “reply all.” The AI might misunderstand the word “everyone” and send an email to everyone in your contact list. If you don’t respond to your boss’ message right away, the AI might notice and start hiding it (generative AI is known for affirming your wishes, and they even generate false facts through hallucinations based on fictional sources, such as websites and books).
AI is everywhere in our livesThe Apple event marks a softening of its closed-off attitude toward personal technology. Under Jobs and designer Jonathan Ive, Apple’s position is that its products are perfectly designed and therefore self-sufficient. Apart from the superficial choice of iPhone case color, there is no need for customization, and the operating system and graphical interface are also unified.
