An Important AI Sales Conversation

(By Loyd Ford) Last week, I talked with a very smart Sales Manager/Market Manager who is looking for work right now. He called to check in, but our conversation rapidly evolved to talking about the power and fear of artificial intelligence and sales.
By now you’ve heard it all. “AI will replace us all.”  AIcan do your work.” “AI is too complicated for me to learn it.” “AI is so scary it makes me go into lockdown.” “AI can’t be better than me.”
He asked a few questions and then said, “I’m amazed at what I am learning about artificial intelligence that already makes me more valuable on the market for radio today. Learning these skills will allow me to explode my positive impact on sales teams and revenue at a much higher and faster pace than before.”
Of course, I shared with him aspects of new artificial intelligence tools that can allow local radio groups to launch tangible creative ideas that can help sellers create more productive cold calling by showing advertisers proof of something they want and “can’t unhear.” That creates more buying.
That’s when he talked about what he has learned about speed now available to sellers and sales managers because of AI in creating sales opportunities, presentations, data, and rapid influence.
Finally, he said, “People fear being replaced by AI, but the truth is more like this. You are less likely to be replaced by artificial intelligence than almost anyone thinks, but we are all more vulnerable to being replaced by someone who is using AI to become much more productive than you are now.”
Let’s be direct. In a world where radio groups and local owners need leadership that knows more about new technologies like artificial intelligence and how to use it to create more productivity, don’t you want to know the person I talked to this week about this who is looking for a job? It’s just a phone call.
There are a lot of different ways to increase your sales. But please let me point out what my friend looking for a job is really saying and why this should be a big part of your focus now.
Money isn’t real. It’s only important when you don’t have any. Sales come and go, but your time is essentially most valuable. Learn how to use AI to increase your sales by destroying how much time it takes you to do things AI can do in just minutes. Or less.
And time is money. But you already know that.

Legion Pro 5i Gen 8 16-inch quick review: 16-inch gaming laptop

Lenovo’s “Legion Pro 5i Gen 8 16” is a gaming laptop with a 16-inch 2560 x 1600 dot display. Among the 13th generation Core processors, the CPU is the HX series, which is designed for high-performance gaming laptops. The GPUs (dedicated graphics cards) used are entry-level RTX 4050, mid-range RTX 4060, and mid-range RTX 4070. About performance settingsPerformance can be adjusted using the standard configuration utility “Lenovo Vantage”. In this benchmark, I used the maximum settings of “Performance Mode”
The Legion Pro 5i Gen 8 16 model is equipped with a dedicated AI chip called “LA-2Q”, and by enabling the “Legion AI Engine+” in “Balanced Mode”, performance can be optimized so that you can enjoy the fun of the game. The CPU used is Intel’s 13th generation Core i5-13500HX (14 cores and 20 threads)/Core i7-13700HX (16 cores and 24 threads). The HX series is aimed at high-end gaming laptops, and has a higher PBP (processor base power consumption, almost the same as TDP) than the general H series, which can show higher performance.Legion Pro 5i Gen 8 16-inch batteryabout 5 hours *The time is extremely short when playing games
CPU temperatureWhen I measured the CPU temperature under high load, the average temperature was 91.9 degrees, which is quite high. The high output state lasted for about 2 minutes from startup, and the maximum temperature reached 99 degrees during the period. This may be because you are using the highest performance settings. In order to prevent the CPU temperature from rising too high, it is better to reduce the performance slightly.
Driving soundA lot of driving noise can be heard. It is difficult to hear the sound through the speakers, so you may need to wear a gaming headset to play. This time, due to various problems, we were unable to properly evaluate the actual machine. However, if there are no defects (or symptoms), I think the cost performance is quite high. It is particularly worth mentioning that the high-end model is a high-performance combination of Core i7-13700HX and RTX 4070, and the display supports 240Hz & HDR. The keyboard is also designed for gaming. Other companies’ products are only around 250,000 yen for such a finished product. Although I didn’t try it this time, it is certain that it has an advantage over products of the same price because it has the AI optimization function “Lenovo AI Engine +”.

Pixel 9 Pro XL vs iPhone 14 Pro Max

Shortly before the weekend began, the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro leaked, with someone holding the two phones in their hands and comparing them. As a follow-up, they put these Pixel 9s next to the iPhone 14 Pro Max and the Pixel 8, giving us another preview of Google’s big August event.
The more important comparison between the two, at least in my opinion, is the Pixel 9 Pro XL vs. iPhone 14 Pro Max. Since there’s been a lot of talk about the new Pixel 9 series looking like and taking design inspiration from the iPhone, this gives us a good feel for whether these comparisons are justified. It also lets us see how Google’s largest Pixel 9 Pro compares to Apple’s largest iPhone in terms of size.
Pixel 9 Pro XL vs. iPhone 14 Pro Max: Here’s the first comparison (full video) from the TikTok account pixo_unpacking. iPhone 14 Pro Max BatteryAs you can see below, both phones are large in the hand, but I can’t help but look at this Pixel 9 Pro XL and think, “Wow, it actually doesn’t look like an iPhone at all.” You may disagree with me, but this still looks very much like a
Pixel 9 Pro Batteryphone, with the camera bar, “G” logo, and matte finish.
Sure, the overall silhouette of this phone is similar to the iPhone, and the sides are flat, but the rear camera housing does keep them away from being a clone. The button placement is different, too, and the bottom setup is completely different, and I just don’t think Google has given up and is just making their version of the iPhone. Apple doesn’t have its own flat edges on smartphones.
Pixel 8 vs. Pixel 9: On a related note, the same TikTok account posted a comparison of the Pixel 8 vs. the regular Pixel 9 (video here). This doesn’t tell us a whole lot other than showing us the size and how similar they should be. I guess it does reveal a major design change, with Google introducing a lot of flat edges after giving us a lot of rounded edges with last year’s Pixel 8 series.
But again, this is all still in line with the previous Google Pixel design, it’s just that now we’re going in a flatter direction. I can definitely look at this phone and say, “Yes, this is a Google Pixel phone.

Yoga Book 9i Gen 8 review: 2.8K dual-display is convenient, but…

Lenovo’s “Yoga Book 9i Gen 8 (13th Gen Intel Core)” is an unusual dual-display laptop. This may seem insignificant, but it will increase your productivity by increasing the desktop space. However, the price is quite high. It is suitable for those who pursue romance rather than cost-effectiveness in their computers. The amount of information on the 2.8K x 2 screen is very largeThe Yoga Book 9i Gen 8 is a product in Lenovo’s “Yoga Book” series. The first generation of “Yoga Book” released in 2016 attracted much attention for its illuminated keyboard, and although it was a single screen, it could also be used as a handwriting tablet. The second generation is the “Yoga Book C930” released in 2018, which uses an E-Ink panel on the keyboard surface. The series will adopt dual screens from here, but I think it is more like a main screen + sub-screen, and I can’t get rid of the impression that it is a bit boring. By using two identical panels, the Yoga Book 9i Gen 8 realizes a true dual-screen display. It seems like a complete package, but Lenovo Yamato Research Institute, which builds ThinkPads, is said to have been involved in the development of the Yoga Book series, so there may be some surprise models in the future. Ban three screens?
Regardless, the amount of information that the Yoga Book 9i Gen 8 manages to fit on its 2.8K x 2 screen is huge. The wide 2880 x 3600-dot desktop is equivalent to 5 times the pixel ratio of Full HD and 1.25 times the pixel ratio of 4K. Although the screen is actually enlarged by zoom, it doesn’t show as much information, but it can still show more information than the average laptop. Anyone who has used a computer will agree that the larger the desktop, the more efficient you can be.
Lenovo “Yoga Book 9i Gen 8” battery lifeBattery life is not disclosed. Therefore, when we used “PCMark 10” to measure the driving time when performing business tasks (web browsing, document creation, video chat, etc.), the standard performance setting was 11 hours and 12 minutes, and the power saving setting was 9 hours and 29 minutes until the battery was exhausted. The reason for the short driving time under the power saving setting may be that some processes were running in the background without my notice (the measurement took a long time, so I couldn’t re-measure it) This may be due to the large battery capacity of 80Wh. Mobile laptops are generally around 45-60Wh. Since the Yoga Book 9i Gen 8 does not have a physical keyboard, the battery may be installed in the vacant space (in fact, you can find it by disassembling it and looking inside, but this time it was borrowed by the manufacturer) (so it was not disassembled).
About the sound of the optical driveThe noise of the optical drive (the noise of the fan rotation and the wind noise of the exhaust port) is usually not a problem. But when it is heavily processed under the high-performance setting, the sound will be a bit loud. On the other hand, under the maximum (performance) setting, the high output state of 35 to 42W lasts for about 1 minute, and then fluctuates slightly around 23W. The CPU temperature is also high, reaching 88 degrees, but it lasts for a short time and then stays at around 72 degrees, which is a range without problems. Since the first generation of the Yoga Book series came out, some enthusiasts have called it a strange “abnormal PC”. The Yoga Book 9i Gen 8 has similar comments, but I personally think it is much more practical than its predecessor.
It’s a bit difficult to use on the mobile sideGenerally speaking, laptops with 13.3-inch displays are suitable for mobile use. Each screen of the Yoga Book 9i Gen 8 is 13.3 inches, so it takes up the same space as a mobile phone when the screen is closed. But please note that when using two screens, the screen size is quite large. The Yoga Book 9i Gen 8 uses the Core i7-1355U, emphasizing power-saving performance. The styling and panel used make it look like it can be used for heavy creative work, but it does not have the ability to process large amounts of data in Photoshop or edit 4K videos. First of all, 16GB of memory is the standard capacity for PCs, and if you use heavy software that takes up a lot of memory, you need at least 32GB. If you understand this and still want to implement dual monitors on a PC, I think it’s worth buying. It’s no longer a complicated topic like cost-effectiveness, but a simple romantic issue. “I bought it because I wanted it”, isn’t it great? I don’t know if I will be satisfied with it, but I feel the future is certain.

How AI is fuelling uncertainty for game developers

“I’m very aware that I could wake up tomorrow and my job could be gone,” says Jess Hyland.
The video game artist says the industry she’s spent almost 15 years working in is on “shaky” ground at the moment.A boom in players and profits during the pandemic sparked a flurry of investments, expansions and acquisitions that, in hindsight, now look short-sighted.Gaming remains profitable, but thousands of workers worldwide have lost their jobs, and successful studios have been shut down over the past two years.More closures and cuts are feared.”Everyone knows someone who’s been laid off. There’s lots of worry about the future,” says Jess. Some bosses are talking up the potential of generative AI – the tech behind tools such as ChatGPT – as a potential saviour.Tech giant Nvidia has shown off impressive development tool prototypes, and gaming industry heavyweights such as Electronic Arts and Ubisoft are investing in the tech. It’s claimed AI tools can save development time, free workers up to focus on creativity and provide a more personalized user experience. With budgets at the blockbuster end of the industry spiraling as audience expectations rise with them, it sounds like a perfect solution. But not to everyone.’Jobs are going to change'”The people who are most excited aboutAI enabling creativity aren’t creatives,” says Jess, a member of the Independent Workers Union of Great Britain’s game workers branch. She sits on its artificial intelligence working group.Against the backdrop of widespread layoffs, Jess says the suspicion among workers is that bosses see AI as a path to cutting costs when labor is their biggest expense.Jess says she knows one person who’s lost work due to AI and has heard of it happening to others. There are also dozens of accounts online suggesting that jobs in concept art and other traditionally entry-level roles have been affected. Most firms making AI tools insist they’re not designed to replace humans, and there’s broad agreement that the technology is a long way from being able to do so.Jess says the bigger worry is that “jobs are going to change, but not in a good way”.Rather than creating their own material, says Jess, artists worry they could end up supplementing AI’s efforts, rather than the other way around.Copycat fearsIt’s a view echoed by Chris Knowles, a former senior engine developer at UK gaming firm Jagex, known for its Runescape title.”If you’re going to have to hire actual human artists to fix the output, why not harness their creativity and make something new that connects with players?” he says.Chris, who now runs UK indie studio Sidequest Ninja, says that in his experience smaller developers are generally unenthusiastic about using generativeAI.One of his concerns is around cloned games.Online game stores – where indie developers make most of their sales – are life with imitations of original titles. This is especially true of mobile games, says Chris, and there are studios set up “entirely to churn out clones”.It’s not yet possible to rip off a whole game using AI, he says, but copying assets such as artwork is easily done.”Anything that makes the clone studios’ business model even cheaper and quicker makes the difficult task of running a financially sustainable indie studio even harder,” says Chris. He also points to the huge amounts of electricity required to run generative AI systems as a big concern.Copyright concerns over generative AI – currently the subject of several ongoing legal cases – are one of the biggest barriers to its wider use in gaming right now.Tools are trained on vast quantities of text and pictures scraped from the internet and, like many artists, Jess believes it amounts to “mass copyright infringement”.Some studios are exploring systems trained on internal data, and third parties advertising ethical tools that claim to work off authorized sources are springing up.Even then, the fear is that AI will be used to turn out assets such as artwork and 3D models at scale, and the expectation on workers will be to produce more output.”The more content you can make, the more money you can make,” says Jess.
Some in the industry are more positive about AI.Composer Borislav Slavov, who won a Bafta Games Award for his work on Baldur’s Gate 3, told the BBC he was “excited about what AI could bring to the table for music in the near future”.Speaking at the recent Games Music Festival in London, he said he believed it would enable composers to “explore music directions faster” and push them out of their comfort zones.”This would allow the composers to focus way more on the essence – getting inspired and composing deeply emotional and strong themes,” he said. However, he did agree that AIcould not “replace the human soul and spirit”.While she has serious personal reservations about using the tech to “automate creativity”, Jess says she wouldn’t be against using it to bear the burden of some of the more repetitive admin tasks that are a feature of most projects.

HP ProBook 5310m: A thin and light laptop for business users

I’ve often said that I prefer matte LCDs on laptops. This stems mostly from my experience using laptops outdoors – I often use them outdoors (e.g. in the car or at the park). Reflections outdoors can be a big issue, so matte LCDs are the best option for me. If you use your laptop mostly indoors, or at least in the shade, a glossy LCD will improve contrast by about 20-35%. This means that a high-contrast LCD might go from 800:1 to 1000:1. On the other hand, if you compare a cheap anti-glare LCD to a glossy LCD, you might go from 250:1 to 185:1… or even lower. The standard anti-glare 1366×768 display on the 5310m falls into the “lower” category, offering the lowest contrast we’ve seen in more than four years. Ouch! Aside from the anti-glare coating, there’s really nothing to like about this LCD. It’s fairly bright, but the black levels are among the highest (i.e. the worst) we’ve ever measured, resulting in a contrast ratio of just 141:1. Gamut is also at the bottom of our chart, with Delta E being one of the highest (i.e., worst) scores.
Despite the rather small 41Wh 4-cell battery, the 5310m does have decent battery life. It’s on par with most CULV offerings, most of which have batteries that are 50% larger. We expect the SU2300 version of the 5310m to be comparable to similar laptops, especially with the upgrade to a 6-cell
HP ProBook 5310m Battery
pack. But in doing so, you’ll give up the app performance shown on the previous page.
We also added an interesting metric to this round of battery life testing: idle and Internet battery life under standard laptop settings (i.e., without uninstalling all the overkill software). The biggest culprit here is the Internet Security Suite; HP provides a trial version of McAfee Internet Security. The orange bar shows what happens to performance if McAfee is left installed, and it also helps illustrate why removing unneeded apps can significantly improve mobility and performance. Of course, if you run without any protection, you do so at your own risk; it’s something I’ve done effortlessly for the past 10 years or so, but I’m not a good representative of the typical computer user.
First, let’s talk about the “clean” battery life comparison. The 5310m lasted a little over 5.5 hours, less than the 6.5 hours HP claims. We calibrated the brightness to 100nits (36% brightness under Windows) and ran it in power saving mode, and still couldn’t break 6 hours. Battery life drops significantly under more realistic loads such as Internet surfing; we measured just under 4 hours in our Flash-intensive Internet test. HD x264/H.264 playback was our worst case scenario, with battery life dropping to just over 2.5 hours. With the larger 6-cell battery, you can improve these results by 50% – as expected from CULV (i.e. slightly lower results due to the higher-performing CPU).
With McAfee Internet Security enabled, battery life dropped significantly, at least in our light-use (idle) test. With McAfee installed, the 5310m’s
HP ProBook Battery
life dropped from over 5.5 hours to less than 4 hours—a 35% drop! Internet
HP ProBook 5310m Battery
life, on the other hand, dropped only 7%, suggesting that McAfee and Internet browsing in general put enough load on the CPU to keep it from using deep sleep states. We don’t have results from the various Internet Security suites yet, but we’ll focus on testing future laptops with standard security features enabled to see how they affectHP ProBook 5310m Battery life.

OnePlus 12 long-term review: A potential hit smartphone for 2024

Long ago, OnePlus seemed like the natural “other” choice to the Google Pixel line. The days of “never settle” being the core ethos of this BBK-led giant are over. The OnePlus 12 embodies that more than any other product. Here’s what it’s like to use OnePlus for a long time As a Google Pixel user, moving the power button to the same side as the volume rocker really makes sense to me. The excellent alert slider is perfectly placed on the left side. I’ve been using this button a lot, and while Apple ditched it in favor of a multi-function button, I hope OnePlus continues to improve this toggle button and make it its own in the future. The screen is gorgeous. It’s definitely one of the biggest selling points, and coupled with the gentle curves, the whole package is great. I did forgo the pre-applied screen protector. It feels very cheap, and while I haven’t replaced it or used a case in the past few months, my screen has held up well without any marks, scuffs, or scratches. I’ve had a lot of test devices, but using the OnePlus 12 without a case was a wonderful experience.

Back to the display, it’s one of the best I’ve ever used. That’s it. It’s smooth as silk, huge, and the rich colors make everything look great. I also kept it at FHD resolution because, in my opinion, the QHD option isn’t enough without pixel peeping. It gets really bright.

Let’s be honest. OxygenOS isn’t OxygenOS anymore. OnePlus can try to tell us otherwise, but that’s a blatant fabrication. The spartan yet feature-rich AOSP-style version of the OnePlus 8 era is long gone. I can understand why this is one of the top reasons many longtime brand fans have ditched OnePlus.

ColorOS (because this is ColorOS) still needs to be slowly cultivated. Despite its obvious influence from iOS, my love for it has grown over the past few months. In fact, I’d like to see more unique options that help differentiate Oppo and OnePlus phones. I wish “Shelf” was an alternative to Discover, like Samsung’s News Feed. Maybe OnePlus could allow more app widgets in this section, because with so few preset options allowed, I find myself using it more often to quickly glance at some key daily information like weather and global time.

I’m surprised OnePlus didn’t try to force some AI features in, but to be honest, it feels pretty good without them. You can use Gemini, or use Magic Eraser in Google Photos, but there’s really nothing that can really improve the experience. Maybe Circle to Search would be nice. That being said, it’s nice to see OnePlus focusing on the core experience first.

Aside from the visuals, the day-to-day experience of using this phone is also great. Compared to the Pixel 8 Pro, the OnePlus 12 feels much faster. It’s super smooth and responsive. I didn’t see any lag even with a lot of apps loaded and installed. It’s been updated a lot since its release to clean up any bugs and issues, and the whole experience has been improved for speed and performance. In terms of raw power and smoothness, it’s easily comparable to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Real-world lifespan

One of the highlights of the OnePlus 12 is its excellentOnePlus 12 battery life. This huge 5,400mAh battery

means that the phone can easily meet the needs of high-intensity use for a whole day on a single charge. When I use the phone as my primary or only device, I’m amazed at how little it needs to be charged.

I love not having to think about charging or when I’ll have to charge it next. I can charge it randomly and use it for days. I thought this would go down over time, but it’s still a beast. I’ve rarely experienced a full day with less than 20% battery. I can count on one hand how many times this has happened in the last few months.

Even the standby time is impressive. Let the phone sit and the OnePlus phone batterywill slowly drain with almost no impact. Overnight, theOnePlus 12 batterylife will only decrease by 1 or 2%. I haven’t used an Android phone that can achieve this in a long time.

Using the camera

OnePlus 12 OnePlus has historically lagged behind Samsung and Google in terms of camera quality, but the OnePlus 12’s camera system has improved significantly. Before I get into the details of image quality, I have to admit that Hasselblad color tuning is my favorite feature on any modern smartphone. It has also improved significantly since the collaboration was first confirmed in 2021. While I do miss the clean software aesthetic of Oppo’s previous OnePlus efforts, you can see why the merger has benefited the brands’ hardware quality. While it’s hard to call the OnePlus 12 a “flagship killer,” it’s one of the most impressive smartphones released in 2024.

Galaxy Z Flip 6 final review: Will it be like the Flip 5?

Although the new Fold 6 no longer has to contend with a large battery, our tests show that the battery consumption of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 Compact is 10%
Dear, the battery of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is also related to the processor.
The battery capacity of the Galaxy Source smartphone battery is high.
All in all, we have received an official gift from Samsung for four years: Flip 6 contains 23 hours of lecture videos, Flip 5 contains 20 hours of lecture videos, 68 hours of audio lectures and 57 hours of audio lectures, without any difference. Flip 5, need to check the password in our own tests. After saving to PhoneArena, we conducted 3 internal battery tests on each phone, and finally the Flip 6. Listen to the results we got:
Galaxy Z Flip mobile phone batteryTest results: In our web navigation test, the performance of the Flip 6 has improved significantly compared to the second generation report, lagging behind the previous generation Flip phone by about 12 hours.Fortunately, the new Flip 6’s battery life is on par with the older Flip 5 and Flip 4, both at 9 hours and 8 minutes.

It was interesting to see the effect the steamer cavity has on the internal temperature of the phone when testing with 3D games, which was impressive in my testing, with a 5-hour battery life of over 10 hours. As you can see, these codes are very promising, but this is all we can do for you at the moment. We’ll have to wait and see next week to see if the Galaxy Z Flip 6 gets the green light.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 2024 is optimized for quiet gaming at just 35 dBA

As you may already know, Asus offers a few performance profiles for its ROG gaming laptops, one of which is called “Silent,” which emphasizes keeping overhead fan noise below 35 dBA.
The problem is that this silent profile has been hit or miss on all Asus ROG devices I’ve used over the years, and it was particularly bad on the Zephyrus G14 GA403 I recently tested.
I’m particularly interested in silent specs on computers like the G14, which is primarily a compact, all-purpose device, not a gaming machine. As such, I’d expect potential buyers to only game in their free time and opt for low noise levels whenever possible.
Now I’ve shown you that this 14-inch laptop is a great gaming machine in both the 4060 and 4070 configurations, and is even capable of running most modern games at above 60 fps at 2.8K resolution and ultra settings. But in Turbo mode, the noise rises to 48 dBA.
However, the default silent mode is inconsistent and doesn’t make the most of this configuration and situation.
So I used the manual mode settings in the Armoury Crate app and set an optimized silent mode that still keeps the fans quiet at under 35 dBA but provides better gaming performance and a more consistent gaming experience.
So here are the settings. We’re getting a little complicated here, but understand that you can easily reproduce these settings yourself using the instructions and images below:
CPU, GPU, and system fans are set to 40% RPM when the temperature is above 60°C.
For the CPU, I limited the SPL power to 15W to deliver as much power as possible to the GPU. As you’ll see later, the total combined performance in this mode is thermally limited, but we’re still working to achieve the highest TGP of the graphics chip, as that’s the most important factor in gaming frame rates.
For the GPU, I set a temperature limit of 80 degrees Celsius, which means that the system will adjust performance and frequencies to avoid exceeding this limit. You might think that 80°C is a pretty low limit, and perhaps you can set it higher than 82-84°C, but I chose a setting that I thought was safer for long-term use. Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 Battery
I must point out that this mode is not suitable for daily use and general multitasking, as it cannot run at high clock speeds due to severe CPU limitations. If you plan to use a similar device in daily use, do not limit the SPL and FPPT CPU performance settings in this way, otherwise the laptop will feel sluggish and laggy. These settings are only suitable for gaming, as they are designed to maximize GPU performance.
Of course, these CPU settings will also affect the loading time of games, which will take longer than other configurations. But in general, these settings bring better frame rates and lower 1% scores than the 20-25W power allocation. Still, you can try these settings for yourself.
