 The MacBook Pro 2022 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro 2022 14-inch and 16-inch are now the most anticipated Apple devices, following Apple’s slew of mobile device announcements at its September “Far Out” event. That event gave us everything from the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro to the new AirPods Pro 2 and Apple Watch Series 8, but now we’re ready for the new laptops.

Apple has a consistent track record when it comes to product launches, and this year’s expected Apple October event looks no different. With the iPhone, AirPods and Apple Watch obsolete, it’s time for Apple’s popular MacBook Pro line to steal the show. Great MacBook Pro 14 with M1 Pro.

After going through all the latest MacBook Pro 2022 leaks and rumors, here’s what we know about the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with the M2 Pro and M2 Max.

MacBook Pro 2022 14-inch and 16-inch designs

There’s a reason there aren’t any big rumors about the design of the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models: They’ve gotten a massive makeover.

Last year’s MacBook Pro 14 and Pro 16 were redesigned to increase screen real estate with thinner bezels and a notch. But it adds a flatter, functional aesthetic and a sleeker aluminum unibody design, along with a large trackpad and a roomy Magic Keyboard with a full-height function key row.

With such a big design change, it’s hard to imagine Apple moving on from the wildly popular design just a year after its release. However, we might see a new color added to the mix, like the gorgeous Midnight MacBook Air.

MacBook Pro M2 Pro and M2 Max 14-inch and 16-inch displays

The latest MacBook Pro models with the M1 Pro and M1 Max feature incredible Liquid Retina XDR displays, ProMotion with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR support, and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. As mentioned in our MacBook Pro 14 review, the mini-LED display is pleasing to the eye, with a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits.

For the new model, we can expect the same, but possibly with some upgrades, such as the iPhone 14 Pro’s claimed peak brightness of 2,000 nits.

However, Apple may be hiding something else. The only real differentiator likely to emerge this year is Face ID. Reports are polarizing – either Face ID for the Mac is in the works, or it isn’t needed because Touch ID on the keyboard is more convenient.

MacBook Pro 2022 14-inch and 16-inch: M2 Pro and M2 Max

Along with the M2, the M2 Pro and M2 Max seem like the inevitable updates to the MacBook Pro 2022 14-inch and 16-inch models. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said via his Power On newsletter that new models will feature these new chips, and they already look powerful.

As Gurman reports, the next-gen M2 Max chips will feature up to 12 CPU cores and 38 graphics cores — an impressive amount compared to the current MacBook Pro’s 10 CPU cores and 32 graphics cores growth of.

As for RAM, the chips appear to support up to 64GB of memory, and with no rumors or leaks about onboard storage, it’s fair to assume they’ll stay the same.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that the next set of MacBook Pro models will not use the 3nm process and apparently won’t be ready until January 2023. So, expect the same, but still very impressive, 5nm process.

MacBook Pro M2 Pro and M2 Max 14-inch and 16-inch battery life

The battery life of the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros is unclear at this time, but we can speculate based on the results from the M2 MacBook Air. That model lasted 14 hours and 6 minutes, while the M1 MacBook Air lasted better at 14 hours and 42 minutes. There may be a slight drop in processor power, which means the M2 Pro and M2 Max will likely follow suit.

However, the MacBook 14 with the M1 Pro lasted up to 17 hours in our tests, and the minimal reduction in battery life for more processing power doesn’t disappoint.
