Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 hands-on: A high-quality, durable 11-inch Android tablet

Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 launched its latest tablet, the Mi Pad 5, alongside its 11T smartphone line, including the impressive 11T Pro. It's got a powerful performance. It has an 11-inch screen, a quad-speaker array, a fast Snapdragon 860 chipset, and an 8,720mAh Xiaomi Mi Pad 5, which Xiaomi says will provide more than five days of music playback, more than 16 hours of video playback, and more than 10 hours of gaming.

 The rear camera is a 13-megapixel one, and can shoot 4K, 1080p, or 720p video, all at 30fps. The front-facing camera is an 8-megapixel one, located in the bezel on one of the short sides, and can shoot 1080p or 720p video, all at 30fps.

The 11-inch screen is highly reflective, has very narrow bezels, and has a WQHD+ resolution (1,600 x 2,560 pixels, 275ppi, 16:10). The IPS panel has a maximum brightness of 500 nits, which can be a little dull in direct sunlight, but the 120Hz refresh rate ensures that content is smooth and clear, and it supports the DCI-P3 color standard.

As usual with Xiaomi smartphones, there are several preset color temperatures (Vivid, Saturated, and Standard), as well as a Reading mode that mutes all tones. This is different from the black-and-white mode, though, which I prefer when reading e-books on a tablet. The grilles for the four-speaker array are also located here, two on each short side. One long side contains the volume rocker, magnetic holder, and the charging port for the optional stylus. The other long side houses the optional keyboard port.
